Clarence Ayers, 100, of Billings, died June 13 at Ozarks Methodist Manor Nursing Home, Marionville, after a long illness. Services for Mr. Ayers were held June 17 at Meadors Chapel, Billings, with the Rev. Ermon Webb officiating. Burial was in Mission Home Cemetery, Marshfield. A retired mail carrier, Mr. Ayers was an Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Billings First Baptist Church. His survivors include a son, Leonard, Huntsville, Arkansas; a daughter, Ruth Halvarson, Billings; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Eisenhour Cemetery near Spokane under direction of Harris Funeral Home of Ozark. She died Nov 3 in the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia after a long illness. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Anna May Riott, of the home; her father, Herbert Ayres, Enid, Okla.; two half sisters, Andrea and Jennifer Ayres, both of Enid, Okla.; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Riott, Nixa and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ayres, Reeds Spring, Mr. Charles Riott, Galena, and Mrs. Nora Ayres, Reeds Spring.

Roy Ayres, 56, Ozark, died at 11:20 a.m. Monday in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, following a short illness. Mr. Ayres was a longtime resident of the Union Chapel Community, and a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mae; two sons, Jack Ayres of Springfield and Jamie Ayres of Ozark; one daughter, Mrs. Leah Lawson of Colonial Heights, Va.; two brothers, Kenneth of Ash Grove and Carl of Kings City, one sister, Mrs. Vaye Burks of Nixa; and three grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Harris of Ozark. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Union Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Frances Cain Ayre, 96, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on June 19, 2011 in Ozark Riverview Manor. Frances was born on February 20, 1915 to Jesse and Ledora Cain in Springfield, Missouri. Frances was the widow of Edwin Miles Ayre. She is survived by son, Terry Ayre, of Kemah, Texas, son Don Ayre and special son, Pat Healy of Springfield; granddaughters, Ashley Ayre, of Austin, Texas, Betsy McBrayer, of Belton, Missouri and Baxter Mundy, of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren. At Frances' request, there will be no services. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Ozark Riverview Manor for their care and kindness during the last six months of her life. Ayres, Cabool; four daughters. Mrs. Glennie Fields, Albuquerque, N. M., Mrs. Gladys Marie Bell, Republic, Mrs. Eunice Scofield, Sonoma, Calif., Mrs. Bunice Salchow, Billings; a step-daughter, Mrs. Hattie Henson, Ocie; eight brothers, Roy Reynolds, Springfield, Ralph, Olympia, Wash., Bert, Covina, Calif., Jess, Winter Haven, Fla., Otis, State of Illinois, Alva and Walter, both of Akron, Ohio and Audrey, Ashland, Ore.; nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Methodist church, Billings, with Rev. Roy Reynolds and Rev. Patrick White officiating. Burial, under direction of Harris Funeral Home of Nixa, was in Smart Cemetery east of Billings.

M., Mrs. Hattie Hensen, Ocie, Mrs. Marie Bell, Route 1, Republic, Mrs. Eunice Scofield, Sonora, Calif, Mrs. Bunice Salchow, Billings; two sons Garland E., Bellville, Ohio, Herbert L., Cabool; 17 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. Funeral services for Hiram Stanley Ayres, 85, more familiarly known as “Bud” who died Saturday at his home in Billings were held Tuesday afternoon in the Harris Funeral Chapel at Billings, with Rev. James Allen officiating, Burial was in Smart Cemetery under direction of Harris. A native of Kansas, he came to Taney County at the age of 13, where he farmed until he retired and moved to Billings about five years ago. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rosa Ayres of the home; one daughter, Mrs. George Kenyan of Taneyville; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Cagle of Billings and Mrs. Mary Ann Linobus of Protem; two brothers, Frank Ayres of Billings and Charles Ayres of Glendale, Ariz.; other relatives and friends.

Joan Ellis Ayres, age 69, Ozark, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in her home. She was born December 14, 1930 in Sedalia, Mo., the daughter of John George and Travis Hermeine Fischer Ellis. On July 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to the Reverend Olen Lee Ayres. Joan was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Nixa. She was a longtime member and president of the PTA in Sylvan Hills, Ark., where she taught school for many years. Also, she was a factory worker, talented seamstress, and church pianist. Joan was an avid collector of Pillsbury Doughboys, and was a charter member of the Lovin' Connection Pillsbury Doughboy Club. She was a member of the Springfield chapter of the Wayne Newton fan club. Most of all, Joan was a devout Christian, devoted wife and loving “mommy.” Survivors include, her husband, Reverend Olen Lee Ayres; four children, George Ayres and his wife Anna, California, Linda Pagan and her husband Larry, Ozark, Marcia Cricket Warren, Springfield and Ellis Ayres and his wife Mary, Nixa; eleven grandchildren, Christina Wayne, Sabrina, John, Rensen, Jody, L.V. Josh, Lauren, Nicole and Ashley; two great-grandsons, Adam and Vinny; numerous special relatives and a dearly loved pet, Rusty. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dean Ellis, when he was fourteen years old, and later by her parents. Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with the Pastor Joe Fahl officiating. Visitation was Friday in the funeral home. Burial was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield.

Leonard Beckner Ayres, 86, Ozark, formerly of Brookline, died at 3:25 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008, in The Baptist Home, Ozark, Missouri. He was born November 19, 1921, in Salina, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Lura Ayres. Leonard served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Katherine R. Sutton on August 19, 1945, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage until her passing on August 20, 2002. Leonard was an active member and deacon at the Battlefield First Baptist Church as long as his health allowed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine; a daughter, Amy Anne Ayres; and his parents. He is survived by four children and their spouses, Nancy and Bob Schaefer, Marionville, Martha and Jim Schurke, Springfield, Larry and Beth Ayres, Jefferson City, and Tom Ayres, Springfield; 10 grandchildren, Paul, John, and Susan Schaefer, Todd, Jennifer, Emili Schurke, Nathan, Grant, and Katie Ayres, and Cody Ayres; nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with Rev. Tommy Harper officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Eureka Springs City Cemetery, Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
