Drowning Accident Claims Life of Ozark Teenager
A rural Ozark teenager lost his life in a drowning accident last Thursday afternoon, July 28. Brent A. Burch, 17, was pronounced dead at 2:35 at St. John’s Regional Health Center after repeated efforts by ambulance crews and hospital personnel failed to revive him. The accident occurred at a backyard swimming pool at 1205 E. McCracken, Ozark, where Burch was visiting a friend, Phillip Young, 18. Accord to a report files by Ozark Police Chief Frank Gray, Yount said he was doing some yard work with a weed trimmer as Burch swan alone in the pool. He said Burch yelled something at him, and when he turned around a couple of minutes later, he didn’t see him. He checked to see if he had gone in the house, then he dove into the pool. He said he found Brent floating near the bottom in about ten feet of murky water. Yount then pulled his friend from the pool, went into the house and called his father, Rev. Benny Yount, and began applying cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. The elder Yount called the Christian County Ambulance at 1:30 and attendants Danny and Dana Clinton spent about fifteen minutes working to revive the youth with CPR techniques. Meanwhile other ambulance and police personnel were arriving, and a decision was made to have Safety Ambulance from St. John’s meet the local ambulance at Campbell City with more sophisticated equipment. Further efforts at resuscitation were made en route and at the hospital but were unsuccessful. Burch would have been a senior at Ozark High School in the fall. He was the son of Roy L. Burch, Springfield, and Mrs. Beverly Hall, Ozark Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30, at Ozark Christian Church, with Rev. Yount officiating.

In Memoriam
In loving memory of dear Son, Grandson, Brother, Nephew, and all who loved him. We often sit and think of you when we are all at home. For memory is the only thing that grief can call its own. Happy days that once were ours, how sweet their memory still. Death has left a loneliness this world can never fill. Your memory to us is a keepsake with which we will never part. Though God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts.

A place in our home is vacant that never can be filled. We have many a lonely heartache. Many a silent tear. But always a beautiful memory of the son we loved so dear.
