As the morning lark arose today to sing its lay to the approaching dawn, its note was flattened by the swelling of sadness. As the people of Ozark were heralding the dawn of day, word came to then of the sudden death of Mrs. Mary King, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Shollenberger. The earth has a shroud of grey, With which to greet this dawning day, - a friend is dead. The lark is soaring, failed to sing It knew it notes would sadness ring, - a friend is dead, She loved us all, and knew us well, Far better yet, than words can tell, But Death, in strange and deadly way, Stole her away, with dawn of day. Such would be the sentiment from every heart of Ozark if it were possible for it to poetically acclaim the sadness from its breaking walls. None knew her but to love her and she loved in return. Although of advanced years, yet she mingled with those of younger years and made herself endeared to them by her understanding of their trials and tribulations. In fact, she was mother to all. It was at the early hour of six this morning that relatives were summoned to her side and before physicians could reach her, she had answered the call of Death and was asleep in the arms of Everlasting Peace and Contention. More of her life will be given next week.

On April the 17th, 1918, Parr King passed to his Heavenly home to forever be with the Lord. He was born May the 11th, 1898, being 19 years, 11 months and 6 days old at his death. He professed his faith in Christ October 1916 and united with the Ozark Baptist Church. He had been a patient sufferer for more than a year from the dreaded disease of tuberculosis. His father and mother had done all that they could do to combat the terrible plague, but to no avail. His christian life was a bright example to all who knew him. His death was victorious homegoing. He talked freely of his death and expressed entire confidence in his Savior. His death is a great loss to the home, the community and the church. Funeral services were conducted at the Selmore Baptist Church. A large congregation of friends and relatives were present attesting the high esteem in which he was held. His body was interred in the Selmore Cemetery. L. H. Maples, Pastor.
