Of dear little Thelma who has passed away. Thelma Baird was suddenly taken sick, Tuesday November 11th, at school, though she did not seem to be very sick when she came home for her dinner; just said she had a pain in her stomach, but grew worse and Dr. Wasson was called and he thought it was appendicitis and that an operation would have to be performed. Dr. Bruton was then called and he thought the same. So she was taken to the Springfield Hospital and an operation performed at 7:30 November 13th, when it was found that it was a lock of the bowels. After the operation, she regained consciousness and lived until 2 o’clock, when she passed away. Thelma was 10 years, two months and nine days old and a bright, cheerful little girl. She leaves a father and mother, three brothers and four sisters and a host of friends to mourn her untimely departure. She is just away for a while. Dearest Thelma, thou hast left us, gone to live with Jesus now. Thy little voice and thy dear face we so sadly miss and thy kindness and smiles was such a comfort to us, and while we are so sad and lonely, we can look up and realize our treasures are in Heaven. May are the dear ones in that beautiful city, which is growing nearer and dearer every day. And God in his wisdom seen fit to take you from us, and I pray that we will meet some day.
