Chester Clinton, age 76, of Ozark, died Sunday, July 9, 1995 in Ozark Riverview Manor. He was born July 14, 1918, in Ozark and was the son of George and Ethel Maples Clinton. Mr. Clinton was a carpenter and was a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church, Ozark.
Survivors include: two sons and their wives, Cecil and Wilma Clinton, and Danny and Dana Clinton, all of Ozark; a granddaughter, Karla Tyler and her husband, Bryan, Springfield; two brothers and their wives, George and Vivian Clinton, and Gale and Clara Lee Clinton, all of Ozark; and a sister and her husband, Cleona and Gerry Doran, Springfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1992; two sisters, Ruby Estes, and Juanita Sanders; and a brother, Ivan Clinton. Funeral services are today at 10 a.m. in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. James: T. “Hobo” Applegate and Rev. John Hyde officiating. Burial will be in Selmore Cemetery.

George W. Clinton, 79, retired carpenter and farmer who came here in 1910 from Grayston, Ill., died at his home in Ozark at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. Clinton was a member of the Ozark Cavalry Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ethel; three sons, Chester, George A. and Gale Clinton, all of Ozark; a daughter, Mrs. Cleona Doran, Springfield; two step-daughters, Mrs. Ruby Estes, Springfield and Mrs. Juanita Sanders, Long Beach, Calif.,; 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Clinton, Shallow Water, Kan. and John Clinton, Newton, Kan.; and a sister, Mrs. Ella Bellegarde, also of Shallow Water. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Monday in Harris Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Herd and the Rev. Gerald Rushing officiated with burial in Selmore Cemetery.

Helen Clinton, 67, Ozark, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1992 in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield. She was born Dec. 30, 1924 in Rogersville, the daughter of Henry and Dolly Weatherford Baty. She was a lifelong resident of the Rogersville and Ozark areas. On Dec. 21, 1941 she married Chester Clinton. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Ozark. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Chester; two sons, Cecil Clinton and wife, Wilma, and Danny Clinton, all of Ozark; a granddaughter, Karla Clinton; two stepchildren, Curtis and Dusty Braden; three sisters, Gertrude Compton, Ozark, and Mable Foster and Mary Foster, both of Springfield; and a brother, Cecil Baty, Blytheville. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clarence and Frank Baty. Funeral services were Saturday in Adams Funeral Home with the Revs. J.H. "Hobo" Applegate and Robert Daniels officiating. Burial was in Selmore Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church building fund.

Burial was in New Site Cemetery south of Monett under the direction of Meadors of Billings. Mrs. Clinton died Jan. 9 in the home of a stepdaughter after a long illness. Milford D. Clinton, age 65, of LaCygne, Kan., formerly of Centerville, Kan., died Sunday, May 13, 2007, in Olathe Medical Center. Milford was born March 29, 1942, in Fowler, Colo. He was the son of Raymond O. and Ada Blen (Cobb) Clinton. He attended school in Verona, Mo. He served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1959 until he was honorably discharged in 1963. Milford was a truck driver. He had worked for several trucking companies and also did some trucking on his own. He retired three and a half years ago. He was married to Patsy Douglas in 1964. They became the parents of three children. Their marriage ended in divorce. He then married Sherree Gibson on November 20, 1987, in Kansas City, Kan. They had made their home in LaCygne for the past 11 months. Prior to that, they lived in Centerville for seven years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Delmer, and one sister Marjory King. He is survived by his wife Sherree of the home; four sons, Gregory, Donnie, Ronnie, and Brandon; two step-daughters, Kimberly and Patricia Parker; three step-sons, Frank Parker Jr., Chris Dodds, and Bobby Rowland; three brothers Marvin, Delbert, and Pete; one sister Marie Riott; 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2007 in Meadors Funeral Home in Billings, Mo., with visitation an hour and a half before the service from noon to 1:30 p.m. Another visitation will be held in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie, Kan., on Wednesday, May 16 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in New Rose Hill Cemetery, Billings, Missouri. Memorials are to Addis Cure (lung cancer research) or American Cancer Society.

Kenton Howard Clopton, 68, of Urbana, died at 9:45 p.m., June 9 after suffering an apparent heart attack in his home. Services for Mr. Clopton were held June 12 at the Cantlon Funeral Chapel in Urbana with the Rev. Clarence Hyde officiating. Interment was in Eastlawn Cemetery, Springfield. Mr. Clopton was united in marriage to Christine Jones on January 1, 1943 and to this union were born 10 children. They resided in Tahlequah, Oklahoma until 1945, when they moved to the Greene County area, and then later to Marshfield in 1958., Mr. Clopton had always worked as s wood craftsman. In 1967, they moved to Urbana and their farm. Pamela Gail (Groves) Clopton, age 46, of Nixa, Mo., passed away at 9:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, in St. John's Hospital. She was married to Phillip Clopton in May 1990 until August 2002. She was employed with the dental field in Springfield for approximately 20 years. Although she enjoyed many outdoor activities such as swimming, gardening and walking, her meticulous decorating, cooking and sewing proved compassion for her indoor activities. She was the senior vice president of her graduating class of '75 at Central High School in Springfield; most might remember her as a Central Kiltie. Her great organizational skills allowed her to become involved in many activities such as planning class reunions and proved invaluable in her career. She thrived on life's challenges by getting involved and making a difference. Co-workers, friends and family will most remember her as a compassionate, loving, caring person. She loved talking with people as it was a hobby in itself. She loved everyone and has made lots and lots of friends because she was always willing to do anything for anyone. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her mother, Barbara Groves; a brother and his wife, David and Anita Groves; a sister and her husband, Sherry and Gary Howerton; a niece, Tiffany Little; two nephews, Christopher Groves and Matthew Groves; her grandma, Lettie (Groves) Rohlman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Groves. Services are 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial following in Greenlawn North Cemetery. A.C. Cloud, 88, was born in Stone county on James River, April 3, 1857, and passed away Wednesday, April 4, 1945. In 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Susan Morris and to this union were born 11 children. His wife and four children preceded him in death. In 1923 he was married to Purley A. Whittenburg. He professed faith in Christ at an early age and was a charter member of the Christian Union church. Survivors include his wife, Purley; three sons, Adam of Springfield, Ellis of Carthage, Mo., and Ben; four daughters, Mrs. Lilly Henderson, Springfield, Etta Wilson of Clever, Iva Robinson of Hurley, and Canzada; one sister, Mrs. Elizia Inman of Clever; 27 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, April 5, at Mr. Cloud’s old homestead, the present home of Mrs. Jim Wilson, conducted by Rev. Worth Caughron of Ozark. Interment was in the Little White Church cemetery under the direction of Maples of Ozark.

Amy Louise (Payton) Cloud Amy recently passed away at the age of 35 in her Springfield home and joins her mother, Marty Payton, and infant daughter, Keilah, in heaven. Amy was born on November 20, 1974 in Sandpoint, Idaho. She is survived by her three children, Jordyn, John Lake, and Elijah, all residing in Springfield, Mo.; her father, Jerry, and wife, Patricia, residing in Springfield, Mo.; her brother, Stephen, his wife, Becky, with their two children, residing in Springfield; her three sisters, Shelley and husband, Garry Forell, residing in Clever, Mo., their son residing in Tampa, Fla., and two daughters, residing in Springfield, Mo., Anne and husband, Cavin Cowan, their two sons residing in Battlefield, Mo., and their daughter residing in Springfield, Mo., Christy and husband, Michael Ghaffari, and their daughter residing in Nashville, Tenn. Amy earned her degree in Registered Nursing and graduated valedictorian of her class. She worked in the Cox Health Systems and as a travel nurse. She loved her family very much and enjoyed watching her son's ball games, her daughter's symphony performances, and her oldest son's activities at Camp Barnabas. A private graveside ceremony was held in Manley Cemetery in Battlefield, Mo., on Sunday, June 27, 2010. David Lee Cloud, 60, Dadeville, Mo., passed away at 12 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, after a courageous battle with cancer. David was born December 2, 1945, in Springfield, to Ned and Hazel Cloud. David and his family owned the Cloud Packing Company. He currently worked for the Missouri Conservation Department at Stockton Lake as a creel checker, which allowed him to be closer to his hobbies, hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He was a member of Seybert Christian Church, Stockton Lake. He attended Wentworth Military Academy as a young man. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ned and Hazel Cloud; one brother, Buddy Cloud; and one sister, LaRue Turber. He is survived by his wife, Linda Kaye Cloud, Dadeville, Mo.; two daughters, Chrisie L. Cloud, Dallas, Texas, and Natalie J. Miller and her husband, Mark R. Miller, Nixa, Mo.; four grandchildren, Cain Cloud-Templeton, Dallas, Texas, and Logan, Landrey and Brandt David Miller, Nixa, Mo.; one sister, Patti and husband, David Barrett, Springfield; one brother, Danny and wife, Judy Cloud, Springfield; nieces, nephews, many, MANY friends and his beloved dogs. Elsie Catherine Monger was born Sept. 6, 1845 in Nashville, TN, and died at her home near Clever Feb. 21, 1933, at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 15 days. She came to Missouri with her parents at the age of 9 years. She was married to William Cloud Aug. 18, 1864. To this union were born eleven children, six boys and five girls, only four of whom survive: Mrs. Leona Reynolds, Mrs. Mary Lance, Columbus Cloud and Walter Cloud, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Abbott and Mrs. Dallas Johnson, one brother, John Monger, 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was converted when a young woman and joined the Methodist church. Her life was a living testimonial of her faith. Funeral services were held Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. at the M.E. Church in Clever conducted by the pastor, Rev. J.W. Manney, with burial in the Mt. Carmel cemetery under the direction of Wilburn Maples Funeral Home of Clever, MO.

Ina Louise Harbeston Cloud, age 50, Nixa, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2000 in her home. She was born on November 23, 1949 in Springfield. Ina graduated from Central High School and Drury College. She was a volunteer for the MS Society. Ina was faithful to the Lord throughout her life and had been a member of High Street Baptist Church where she the first candidate for television baptism and sang in the choir as a youth. Ina was a member of the Springfield Friends and Poets Society where she had served as past secretary. She was chosen as a Millennium Poet and wrote a nationally acclaimed and published poem, "Welcome To The New Year." Survivors include: her mother, Ina Goddard and her husband Don, Clever; her father, Charles Harbeston and his wife Shirley, Springfield; two daughters, Lena Snowden and her husband Jarrett, Brookline Station, and Elizabeth Cloud, Springfield; three grandchildren, Shane, Savannah and Will; four brothers, J.D., Douglas, Timothy and Danny; three sisters, Lana, Donna, and Barbara; two stepsisters, Dorothea and Donnita; a stepbrother, Don; her spiritual husband, Kendall Ackermann, and his sons Tim and Brian; other relatives and many friends. Kenneth D. Cloud, son of Emmett and Perlina Cloud, was born in Stone county, Dec. 5, 1895, and departed this life Sept. 3, 1938, at the age of 42 years, eight months and 28 days. He was married to Ruth Ely Feb. 18, 1920, and to this union were born two children; Donald and Doris Jean. Beside his immediate family, he is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Perlina Cloud of Clever, Mo., a brother and sister, Everett and Elva, both of Springfield. The names of two nieces belong to this list, Norma Lee and Mary Lou Houser, for to them their uncle Kenneth had been a loving father. During the time of the World War, Kenneth was in training at Camp Funston for nearly a year. He was always an interested and capable citizen and at the time of his death he was president of the Clever school board, treasurer of P.T.A., a member of the town board, a member of the Official Board of the Methodist church, president of a large Sunday School class and a member of the board of Stewards at his church. Bro. Kenneth was converted to Christ in a revival held by Bro. Wolff in the summer of 1929 and his life has been filled with good deeds and has ever been busy in the services of his Master, and he could always be depended upon to share his part of the responsibilities. He will be sadly missed in his home, his community, and his church. “Our loss is Heaven’s gain.” Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Clever Methodist church conducted by the pastor, Rev. C.S. Young with burial in the Rose Hill cemetery near Billings under the direction of the Wilburn Maples Funeral Home of Clever, Mo. The American Legion had charge of the services at the grave.

Loren B. Cloud, 72, of Nixa, died at 5:30 a.m. Dec. 1 in his home of an apparent heart attack. Services for Mr. Cloud were held Dec. 4 at the Harris Chapel, Ozark, with the Revs, Terry Kendrick and Joseph M. Fahl officiating. Burial was in Flood Cemetery, near Highlandville. Military rites were conducted by his American Legion and VFW Posts. Mr. Cloud had resided in the Jamesville and Nixa communities for all of his life. lie was a member of the Hopedale Baptist Church. He was it veteran of World War II and of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Nixa American Legion Post No. 434 and of VFW Post 6758. Mr. Cloud was employed by Allied Bus Sales of Nixa, and was a retired U.S. Government mail contractor. Surviving are his wife, Wilma; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Dec, of Nixa; a daughter, Linda Smith and son-in-law Everett, of Ozark; his mother, Mrs. Agnes Cloud, Carthage; three brothers and their wives; Lloyd and Patti, Carthage, Calvin and Charlotte Cloud, Monett, Dean and Viola Cloud, Carl Junction; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Otto Sims, Hurley; four grandchildren, Marsha Matthews and Mark Smith, Ozark, Stanci and Eric Cloud, Nixa; three great-grandchildren, Brandy Matthews, Ozark, and Jeremy and Joshua Smith, Nixa; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Services for Minnie V. Cloud, 86, Springfield, were held Sept. 24 in Greenlawn South Chapel with Kenneth Bandy officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Cloud died Sept. 22 in St. John’s Regional Health Center, Springfield. She had lived in Springfield since 1940, having moved there from Ponce de Leon. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Truman; two sons, Bill, Springfield and Bob, Excelsior Springs; three daughters, Pearl Majors, Nixa, Juanita Branson, Springfield and Judy Goodwin, Edisto Beach, S. C.; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Ruby Francis Cloud, age 81, of Rogersville, died on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at Culpepper Place in Springfield. The daughter of Bill and Minnie Miller, she was born June 15, 1924, on the family farm north of Rogersville. Ruby was a lifelong resident of the Rogersville area. Ruby was married to Jim Carr and then to Gene Cloud, who both preceded her in death. She is survived by several cousins from the Springfield and Rogersville areas. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, in Pembina Cemetery, Rogersville

Ruth Irene Cloud, 92, of Billings, died May 15 at the Aurora Nursing Home after a long illness. Services for Mrs. Cloud were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Billings United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bob McQueen officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home. A retired schoolteacher, Mrs. Cloud was a member of the Billings United Methodist Church, the UMW, the WPFA, the American Legion Auxiliary of Billings, and the Garden Club. She is survived by a son, Donald Cloud, Billings; a daughter, Doris Broxterman, Springfield; four grandchildren, Dorann Jones, Lake Jackson, Texas, Kenny Cloud, Warrensburg, Rick Cloud, Rogers, Arkansas, and Mickey Cloud, Rustin, Louisiana; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Truman Cloud, 92, of Springfield, died at 3:24 a.m. March 22 at the Heritage Nursing Home. Services for Mr. Cloud were held March 25 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, with the Rev. Kenneth Bandy officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Cemetery. A native of Stone County, Mr. Cloud had lived in Springfield since 1940, and was a retired meat packing company employee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie, in 1986, and by a son, Bob, in 1987. His survivors include a son, Bill, Springfield; three daughters, Juanita Branson, Springfield, Pearl Magers, Nixa, and Judy Goodwin, Flagstaff, Arizona; a brother, Ned, and a sister, Alphea LeDuc, both of Springfield; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. W. B. Cloud, 447 E. Madison, Springfield, passed away Thursday at the Baptist Hospital after a lingering illness from dropsy. Funeral services were held Sunday from the home and burial was made in Hazelwood cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Clayman of this city attended the funeral. Mr. Cloud is an uncle of Mrs. Clayman.

Funeral services for Wm. W. Cloud resident of the Ponce de Leon community for 64 years, were held Tuesday, Dec. 23, in the Ponce de Leon church, conducted by Rev. D. S. Frazier of Billings, with burial in the Ponce de Leon cemetery under direction of the Wilburn Maples Funeral Home of Clever. He was born in Newton county, AR, in 1873. In 1892 he was married to Ida Ray and to this union eight children were born. Survivors include five sons, Truman, Emmett and Ned of Springfield, Oda of Ponce de Leon, and Ermal of Huntington Park, CA, and two daughters, Mrs. H.C. Leduc of Springfield and Mrs. Jack Stewart of San Jose, CA. Death came at his home at the age of 78 years. He was a faithful member of the Ponce de Leon Methodist church.

Wilma Cloud, our precious mother, Me-Me, Granny, Aunt, Sister and friend was born in Jamesville, MO. Her life was spent cooking, caring and loving for family and friends. The evening of her passing was spent surrounded by family and friends enjoying what she loved most. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Cloud, her Mother and father, Verd and Amelia Sims, Mother and father-in-law Ellis and Agnes Cloud, a special uncle Claborn Carter and two special sisters-in-law, Ruth Sims and Patty Cloud. She is survived by: a daughter, Linda Smith and her husband, Everett of Ozark; a son, Larry Cloud and his wife, Dee of Nixa; a brother, Otto Sims, Hurley; grandchildren, Marsha Matthew, Ozark, Mark Smith and his fiancé Julie Palmer, Springfield, Eric Cloud, Lee’s Summit, Stanci Stoderstrom and her husband Eric, Lees Summit MO; great grandchildren, B.J. Matthew, Ozark MO, Jeremy and Joshua Smith, Nixa, Loren William Smith, Mansfield; a great grandchild to be born in March; a special niece, Helen Sims, Hurley; other relatives; and many friends. Herston Lynn Clouse, age 93, of Springfield, Mo., died June 5, 2004, in St. John's Hospital after a short illness. Herston was born in Webster County on Oct. 16, 1910, to Ira Sheridan Clouse and Rosa Bateman Clouse. He was raised by his stepmother, Bess Clouse. On Feb. 10, 1935, Herston and Dorothy T. Wilson were united in marriage. They moved to Springfield in 1943 where Herston was a sales representative for the Milnot Co. until he retired in 1976. Herston was a member of South Haven Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, his grandkids and gospel music. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, one brother, Fred Clouse, and half-sister, Orean Burks. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Frank and wife Mary Jo, and Gary Lynn and wife Winona (Nona); four grandchildren, Julie Fann and husband Mark of Nixa, Jeff Clouse and wife Becky of Flower Mound, Texas, Darrin Clouse and wife Kari of Springfield, and Sean Clouse of Columbia, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren, Alex, Abbey, Ryan and Caleb. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn South with visitation today, June 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday, June 9, at 1 p.m. at Greenlawn South with burial to follow in Fordland Cemetery.

Eula Marie Tucker Cloven, 96, Springfield, went home to be with the Lord Jan. 22, 2012. Eula was born Oct. 10, 1915, in Niangua, to Fred and Loretta Watson. She was married to John Tucker for 32 years; they had three daughters, Paula, Barbara and Judy. John passed away in 1973; six years later she married Frank Cloven who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Judy Lile and son-in-law Darrell Hinds. She was the last surviving of seven siblings. She is survived by Paula and Harold Wright, Barbara Hinds, son-in-law Orville Lile, seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nine great, great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Viola Watson. Eula was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church for almost 50 years. Eula will be remembered as a woman of strong faith who found time to nurture and care for others. Eula was a wonderful cook. She loved taking meals to friends and neighbors, even in her 90s. She was a rock for her family; always showing strength when times were tough. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Jan. 27 in the Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation was held in the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 26. Johnnie Ray Clower, 44, Bruner, died Monday, Oct. 5, in his home. He was born May 24, 1948, in Christian County, and has been a lifelong resident of the Bruner area. While in the U.S. Army, he served his country in Vietnam, On Jan, 14, 1972, he married Marvonne Davis Clower. Johnnie was a dairy farmer and a member of Bruner Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Marvonne; two daughters, Victoria Denise Gilley and her husband, Jackson, Sparta, and Ruth Nicole Watkins and her husband, Billy Ray, Bruner; a son, John W. Casey Clower, Bruner; a granddaughter, Brandy Paige Watkins; his father, John Clower, Matador, Texas; his mother, Maxine Cunningham, Bruner; his grandmother, Bessie Teague, Bruner; two brothers, Arvel Lee and Jimmy Cunningham, Bruner; two sisters, Mary Beth Phillips, Bruner, and Judy, Matador, Texas; other relatives and many friends. Jacklyn Faye "Nicky” Cluesman, age 58, of Nixa, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008. She was born August 13, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan. She lived in Jacksonville, Florida from 1983 until 1998, before moving to this area. Nicky was a truck driver, who spent most of her career leased to Prime. She enjoyed riding with friends on her Harley. Nicky's home always had a southwestern flair. Survivors include her husband, Richard Chubb; three children, Melissa, Robert and Sabrina Cluesman; and two grandchildren, Papillon Compton and Heaven Cluesman. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, October 31, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
