Hamilton "Glenn" Doran, 79, a native of the Cassidy community, died Thursday in University Medical Center in Columbia. He was a resident of Kirksville. The son of Mathew and Ella Hilliard Doran, Mr. Doran was born July 14, 1910 in Cassidy, and on March 1, 1941, he married Grace Pauline Wilson, who preceded him in death in 1986. Also preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Malcom and Ted; and one grandson, David Doran. Survivors include two sons, Don, Southport, England, and Jack; two daughters, Pat Barmann of Ray, Mo., and Sharon Denslow of Morrisville; one brother, Cecil, of Springfield; two sisters, Lottie Thompson and Eunice Finley, both of Ozark; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. After attending Central High School in Springfield, Mr. Doran married and moved to Kirksville in 1950, when he and his wife purchased and operated Davis Paint Store until retirement in 1974. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge No. 105, A.F. and A.M., both in Kirksville.

Hillary "Wayne" Doran, 72, Springfield, died Dec. 22, 2002, in his home from kidney failure. He was born Sept. 2, 1930, to Malcolm and Mary Holden Doran. Doran was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served on the U.S.S. Vulcan. He devoted his life to his family and grandchildren. Doran was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Winzer; and an infant sister, Retha May. Doran's survivors include T. Marie Doran; sons, Dwayne and wife Cheryl, Springfield, and Glenn and wife Barbie, Nixa; two daughters, Cynthia Mcllroy and husband Steve, Ozark, and Colene Polly and husband Gordon, Tulsa, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, Chandra, Cheston, Mandi, Neeley, Chelsea, Alicia, Luke, Andrew, Garrett, Seth and Truitt. Doran is also survived by four brothers, Dexter and wife Wanda, Warren and wife Donna, Wesley and wife Jeanette, and Leslie Doran; two sisters, Nena Herndon and husband Forrest, and Trela Witherspoon, wife of the late David Witherspoon. Doran will be greatly missed. Services were held at noon, Dec. 27, 2002, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood chapel with the Rev. Paul Swadley officiating. Visitation began at 11. Burial with military honors followed in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post, 2660 S. Scenic, Springfield, 65807.

James Ross Doran, 61 of Lakeland, Fla., a resident of Springfield until 1951, died Tuesday, July 2, in the Bay Pines Veterans Hospital, Bay Pines, Fla. A 1926 graduate of the Springfield Senior High School, he was a 20-year veteran of the U. S. Navy with the rank of lieutenant senior grade. Survivors are his wife, Evelyn; a brother, Wade Doran, Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Whittington, and Mrs. Pansy Moore, both of Springfield and Mrs. Jessie Payne, north of Ozark. Burial was in Lakeland, under direction of Gentry-Morrison of Lakeland.

Funeral services for Julia Ann Doran, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Doran of Bois D’Arc, were held Friday afternoon at the graveside in Wise Hill cemetery, conducted by Rev. W. J. Forbis. Burial was under direction of the Maples-Harris Funeral Home of Clever. Surviving besides the parents are the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Mason of Bois D’Arc.

H. “June” Doran, 84, of Burbank, Calif., a former resident of the Cassidy-Hopedale community north of Ozark, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hopedale Cemetery with the Rev. Clifford Sleeth, officiating. Burial was under direction of Bruce-Konatz of Lamar. Mr. Doran, who died at his home in Burbank, is survived by his wife , Cora C. Doran; a son, J. Leonard Doran of the home; a sister, Mrs. Emma Doran of Ozark; and three brothers, William J. Dora of Ozark, Leonard P. Doran of Springfield and Alex J. Doran of Walters, Okla.

Services for Kenneth Gerald Doran, 57, Aurora, were held Sept. 23 in Williams Funeral Home, Marionville, with the Rev. Clifford Day officiating. Burial was in Hopedale Cemetery, north of Ozark. Mr. Doran died Sept. 20 in St. John’s Regional Health Center, Springfield. He was born in Springfield and spent most of his life in Ozark and Springfield areas. He was a graduate of Ozark High School and a member of the Baptist faith. For the past 10 years, he had been a dairy farmer and before that in sales. He drove a bus for Marionville School District. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; one son, Timothy, Aurora; three daughters, Laura Ellen, Tallahassee, Fla., Teresa Louderback, Crane, and Michelle Arnold, Weatherby; six brothers, Dexter, Nixa, Winzer, Bois d’arc, Wayne, Ozark, Warren, Springfield, Wes, Ozark, and Les, Springfield; two sisters, Nina Herndon, Springfield and Tula Weatherspoon, Lake City, Texas and three grandsons, A Loving Fund has been established for the family and contributions may be made at the funeral home.

Lawrence Woodford Doran, age 93, of Ozark, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2000 in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield. He was born August 4, 1907, the son of William J. and Eliza Grubaugh Doran. His parents preceded him in death as well as three brothers, a sister, and a grandchild. Survivors include: his loving wife of seventy-three years, Mildred Melton Doran; a brother, Clarence, Springfield; three daughters and their husbands, Jean and Harvey Strothmann, Rocheport, Missouri; Betty and Bob Hopkins, Silver Spring, Maryland, and Barbara and Don McConnell, Ozark; a son and his wife, Larry and Barbara Doran, Ozark; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Lawrence graduated from University of Missouri with a degree in agriculture. He served as county agent in several Missouri counties. He also served two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he saw duty in Japan, Korea, and China. He served as an agricultural advisor for the U.S. State Department in the Far East and Washington DC until retirement in 1972. In 1974, he and Mildred returned to Ozark and built a home on the farm where he was born and raised. He was a member of Cassidy United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite, VFW and NARFE. Funeral services were Monday, September 18, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. Bill Stephens officiating. Burial was in Richwood Cemetery, with military honors provided by Veterans Memorial Team. Linda Sharée Doran was born on January 11, 1964, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, to Arnold and Evelyn Townsend. She went to be with Jesus on Sunday, April 25, 2010. She was united in marriage to John Doran on June 28, 1986, in Springfield, Missouri. They had four kids: Connor, sixteen, Blake, fourteen, Kyle, eleven, and Macy, eleven. Sharée graduated from Missouri State University and was a member of King's Way United Methodist Church. She was a valued volunteer at Wilder Elementary School and Pershing Middle School. Despite the giving of her time to these educational and voluntary pursuits, her kids were her life. Her favorite places to be were with her family at the lake and the kids' countless sporting events. She is survived and missed by her husband, John, and her kids, Connor, Blake, Kyle, Macy, all of the family home. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Townsend, of Springfield, her father-in-law, Gerry Doran, of Springfield, her sister, Renee Duff and her husband Dave, and their children, of Ozark, and many, many friends. Visitation will be held at King's Way United Methodist Church at ten o'clock, followed by a Memorial Service, at eleven o'clock, also at King's Way, on Tuesday, April 27th. Absolutely no flowers are to be sent to the services or to the home. In lieu of flowers, Sharée would prefer you buy something nice for a special child in your life.

Dr. Lowery A. Doran, 80, a native of the Cassidy community, northwest of Ozark, died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Burge Protestant Hospital in Springfield where he had been a patient some six months. A 1910 graduate of Drury College, Dr. Warren (SIC) received his Ph. D. at the University of Chicago in 1914 and began his teaching career at Central High School in Springfield where he later became principal. In 1920, he joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma, retiring as head of the department of government there in 1964. He returned to Springfield at that time and lived at Seville Hotel until his hospitalization. A member of the First Congregational Church, Dr. Doran is survived by two brothers, J. W. of Springfield and James R. of Lakeland, Fla; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Payne of Ozark and Mrs. Ella Whittington and Mrs. Pansy Moore, both of Springfield. Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Thieme Chapel in Springfield, with the Rev. Bill Spindler officiating. Burial was in Hopedale Cemetery north of Ozark.

Mrs. Mahala J. Doran was born Nov. 24, 1868, in Lincoln county, Ky., and passed away at the home of her son in Mansfield, Mo., on Nov. 29, 1946. Mrs. Doran and her family formerly lived in the Cassidy community north of Ozark. She was united in marriage with David E. Doran on April 6, 1887 and to this union were born four children. Her husband and three children preceded her in death. Surviving are the one son, Oliver H. Doran, with whom she lived in Mansfield, and four brothers. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon in the Cassidy church by Rev. Turner with burial in the Hopedale cemetery under direction of the Chaffin Funeral Home of Ozark.

Mrs. Mollie E. Doran of Cassidy died at 3:30 Saturday morning in the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.H. Moore at 1978 N. Missouri Ave., Springfield, following a three weeks illness. A resident of Missouri all her 69 years, Mrs. Doran had been an active woman, first as the helpmeet of her husband, an early Christian county settler and Civil War soldier. Two days before the stroke that caused her death, she attended a meeting of the W.C.T.U. of which she was an ardent member. She was also an active worker in the Methodist church. She is survived by five sons, Prof. L.A. Doran of Chicago University and formerly a teacher at Senior High school in Springfield; I.F. Doran of Nixa; T.A. Doran of Cassidy, Wade Doran of the Springfield Fire Department and Roscoe Doran, stationed with the U.S. Navy in the Hawaiian Islands; four daughters, Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Frank Whittington of Springfield; Mrs. Ralph Payne of Selmore, and Mrs. E.E. Estes of Cassidy. Brothers who survive are John Gooch of Ozark and J.B. Gooch of Springfield Funeral services were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church at Cassidy and interment was in Hopedale cemetery under direction of T.B. Chaffin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ella Doran, 60, died at 9 o’clock Monday night in her home near Cassidy after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 in the Cassidy Methodist church, with burial in the Hopedale cemetery under the direction of T.B. Chaffin of Ozark. Born and reared in the Cassidy community, Mrs. Doran was a member of the Cassidy Methodist church and a prominent W.C.T.U. worker. Her husband, D. Doran died about a year ago. Four sons, Hugh of Cassidy, Malcolm, Cecil and Glen of Springfield, and two daughters, Mrs. Eunice Pemberton of Cassidy and Mrs. Lettie Thompson of Walnut Grove, survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. M.D. Doran, 60, of Cassidy, who passed away at her home Monday evening. April 20, were held Wednesday, April 22, at 2:30 p.m. at the Cassidy church by Rev. Galloway, with burial in the Hopedale cemetery under the direction of the Chaffin Funeral Home. Mrs. Doran was the widow of the late M.D. Doran who died a year ago last January. Survivors are six children, Hugh Doran of Ozark, Malcolm, Cecil and Glenn of Springfield. Mrs. Orin Thompson of Walnut Grove, and Mrs. Scott Pemberton of Ozark. Four brothers and six sisters also survive. They are Mrs. Roy Sage and Murray Hilliard of Springfield; Mrs. E. Bante and Leslie Hilliard of St. Louis; Ted Hilliard and Mrs. Jack Nichols of Camden, MO; Mrs. Lynn Neaves of Kansas City; Millard Hilliard of Urichsville, Ohio; and Mrs. Georgia Nichols and Mrs. Kate Placial of Chamois, MO. She was converted and united with the Hopedale Baptist church, later placing her membership in the Cassidy Methodist church and a charter member of the Cassidy W.C.T.U. and Ladies Aid.

Mrs. Mary Viola Doran, 77, Springfield, died last Saturday in Northside Nursing Home after a long illness. Burney Claxton officiating, Burial was in Eastlawn Cemetery.

M.D. Doran was born on Feb. 19, 1872, and departed this life on Jan. 9, 1935, age 62 years, 10 months, and 29 days. He was united in marriage to Ella Hilliard on July 8, 1895. To this union were born six children, who with the mother survive. They are Hugh of Ozark; Malcolm, Cecil and Glenn of Springfield, Lottie Thompson of Walnut Grove and Eunice Pemberton of Ozark; also by two sisters and five brothers, Emma Doran of Ozark, Minnie Fitzpatrick of Battlefield, A.J. Doran of Walters, Okla., J.H. Doran of California, Allen Doran of Springfield and L.P. Doran of Ozark together with 15 grandchildren. He was converted at the age of 18 years and later united with the Methodist church in which he lived a devoted Christian life. He was a patient and loving husband, a kind and considerate neighbor and friend. He will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the Cassidy church by Rev. Galloway, with burial in the Hopedale cemetery under the direction of T.B. Chaffin.

Mildred (Melton) Doran, age 98, of Ozark, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007, in Ozark Riverview Manor. She was born February 6, 1909, in Ozark, the daughter of Reuben E. and Nell (White) Melton. On October 2, 1926, she and Lawrence Woodford Doran were united in marriage. Survivors include: a brother, Rex Melton, Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa.; four children, Jean Strothmann and husband, Harvey, Rocheport, Missouri, Betty Hopkins and husband, Bob, Silver Spring, Maryland, Barbara McConnell, Ozark, and Larry Doran and wife, Barbara, Ozark; 11 grandchildren: Sharon and Jim Renken, Wayne and Denise Strothmann, Glen and Snezana Strothmann, Michael and Carole Hopkins, Laurinda and Richard Taliaferro, Neal Stumbo, Debra and Steven Linscome, Lori and Warren Whitlow, Lee and Lisa Doran, Larry Doran, Jerry Doran; three step-grandchildren, Donald McConnell, Sue Garner and Angie Cheney; 14 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Don McConnell; three brothers, Max, Roger and Dale Melton; a sister, Ruth Crocker; and a granddaughter, Karen Hopkins. Mildred was a beloved mother, a homemaker and a terrific seamstress. She briefly taught school in Ozark in 1926, and taught English in Korea. She lived in South Korea, The Philippines, and South Vietnam with her husband who was in the Foreign Aid Program. She was very active in the Cassidy United Methodist Women. A special thanks to Neal Stumbo, Patricia Hartzler and Ozark Riverview Manor for the loving care given. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Harold Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Richwood Cemetery. Funeral services for O. H. “Ollie” Doran, 64, of Mansfield, who died at 10:20 p.m. Saturday in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, were at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Bergman-Miller Chapel in Mansfield with the Rev. Fred Drake officiating. Burial was in Hopedale Cemetery in Christian County. Mr. Doran, who was admitted to St. John’s at 1 p.m. Saturday after suffering an apparent heart attack, was a native of Christian County. He had lived in Mansfield about 35 years. Only survivors are cousins.

Oscar Theodore Doran, former Christian county resident met death when struck by auto at Los Angeles last Friday -- To be buried at Hopedale. Word was received here late last week of the sudden and accidental death of Oscar Theodore Doran, former Christian county boy, which happened in Los Angeles, Calif. Last Friday when he was struck down by an automobile. The particulars have not been learned. He was born on Sept. 14, 1890, at Cassidy. He attended the Maple Grove school and later graduated from the Nixa High School in 1908. He obtained a B.A. degree in the Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Mo., an M.A. degree at the University of Iowa at Iowa City, and was working toward his PhD Degree this year. He taught his first school in 1909 at Shady Grove near Sparta and also taught in several high schools in Iowa, Nebraska, and Michigan, and this past year at the University of Southern California at Los Angeles. Hew as in the Y.M.C.A. in France during the World War. He was a member of the Elks, the Masons and Knights Templar, being a 32nd degree Mason Shriner. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rita Doran; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Doran of Cassidy; 2 brothers, Albert of Rogers, Ark., and Oliver of Cassidy. The remained are being brought back to his boyhood home for burial. They will arrive in Springfield probably Friday, with burial to take place in the Hopedale cemetery either that day or Saturday. The date and hour is not definitely known at this time.

The remains of Oscar Theodore Doran, whose accidental death was told in last week’s paper, arrived from Los Angeles last Friday and the funeral services wee conducted Friday afternoon, Aug. 22, at 2 o’clock by Rev. B. Frank West of Springfield in the church at Cassidy, with burial in the Hopedale cemetery under the direction of T.B. Chaffin of Ozark. The Elks Lodge of Springfield conducted their services at the grave.

Funeral services were held Wednesday for R. Fenton Doran, 76, of Springfield, who died at St. John’s Hospital there Monday morning. Mr. Doran was a longtime merchant of Nixa and served 25 years as president of the Nixa board of education. He was born in the Cassidy community in Christian County.  For 11 years, he operated a hardware store in Nixa, after which he was  a druggist there for 34 years, retiring in 1953. During his tenure as president of the board of education, he was instrumental in the construction of both the old and new school buildings here. He was a member of the Nixa Christian Church for 40 years. After moving to Springfield in February 1955, he became a member of the King’s way Methodist church. Mr. Doran is survived

by his wife, Blanche of the home; two sons, James and Gerald F., both of Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Whittington and Mrs. Pansy Moore, both of Springfield and Mrs. Jessie Payne, Route 1, Ozark; and three brothers, Dr. Lowry Doran and Wade Doran, both of Springfield and Ross of Lakeland, Fla. Services were at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Harris Chapel at Nixa with the Rev. Gene Atkins officiating. Burial was in Glenn Cemetery south of Nixa.

Robert Wade Doran, 73 of 3157 East Avenue, died at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday in Cox Medical Center after a short illness. Mr. Doran was a retired captain with the Springfield Fire Department. He had served 35 years with the department, last serving at Station No. 2 on Commercial. Mr. Doran was a native of Christian county, He was a member of Cassidy Methodist Church in Christian County by attended Hamlin Memorial Baptist Church in Springfield and was a member of the Men’s Bible Class at the church. He had lived in Springfield for 54 years. Survivors include his wife, Nile; a daughter, Mrs. James R. (June) Baker, 1464 East Glenwood; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Whittington, 1745 South Fairway, Mrs. Pansy Moore, 1357 South Kimbrough, and Mrs. Jeddie Payne, Ozark and a grandson. Arrangements are under direction of Ralph Thieme. Services were at 3 p.m. Thursday in Ralph Thieme Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Maberry officiating. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery.

Rosemary Doran, 64, Aurora, died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, January 19, 1997, at the home of her daughter in Crane. She was born September 21, 1932, at Nixa and was the daughter of Herschel B. and Mary Pauline (Shipman) Jones. On August 2, 1949, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Doran, who preceded her in death in 1986. Mrs. Doran had been a long time resident of Christian County before moving to Aurora twenty years ago. She was employed as a secretary for the Monett School System, and had also been a dairy farmer. Survivors include: four children, Laura Ellen Doran, Tallahassee, Florida, Timothy Doran, Aurora, Teresa Mikronis, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Michelle Arnold, Crane; five grandchildren, Timothy, Jason, and Trevor Doran, and Meagan and Brittany Arnold; one great-granddaughter, Mercede Doran; a sister, Virginia Day, Ozark; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, in Hopedale Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Ferguson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Hospice of Branson.

William J. Doran, 88, of Rt. 2, Ozark, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday in St. John's Hospital in Springfield after a lingering illness. A retired farmer and stockman, he was a life-long resident of this community. He was a member of the Cassidy Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Eliza; four sons, Clarence K., 1713 South Jefferson, Springfield, John H., Kansas City, Lawrence W., Saigon, South Vietnam, and Donald W., Ontario, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Inez Bingham, Route 2, Ozark; two brothers, Eck, Walters, Okla., and Leonard, 726 South New, Springfield; a sister, Miss Emma Doran, of Route 2, Ozark; and 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday (today) in Harris Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Turner officiating. Burial was in Hopedale Cemetery.

Winzer Dee Doran, 56, Bois D'Arc, died Tuesday in his home of an apparent heart attack. Born in Springfield, he was an environmental services employee for St. John's Regional Health Center and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He is survived by his wife, Rose; five brothers, Dexter, Nixa, Wayne, Rogersville, Warren and Lesley, both of Springfield, and Wesley, Ozark; two sisters, Nena Herndon, Springfield, and Trela Witherspoon, League City, Texas; and 25 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana, and a brother, Kenneth. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Lawrenceburg - Verbin Dorrell, 79, of Lawrenceburg, died last Friday at the Kimbrough Nursing Home in Springfield after a long illness. A long resident of Lawrence  County, he was a member of the Lawrenceburg Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his wife, Delta; three sons, Kenneth of Nixa, Leon of Billings and Verbin, Jr., of Altoona, Pa.; three half-brothers, Ben Peltz of Upland, Calif., Barney Brooks of China, Calif. and Cecil Brooks of Ark., one half-sister, Mrs. Barbara Hartline of China, Calif.; eight grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Kate M. Dorsey, 86, Springfield, died Oct. 10 at her home after a long illness. A native of Fordland, Mrs. Dorsey was founder and owner of Savage-Juliette Company which she ran for 49 years. She was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist church where she was a charter member of the 50-50 Sunday school class. Survivors include one daughter, Virginia “Dee-Dott” Riley, Springfield; three sisters, Triece Valch and Jane Garrett, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and Hester Wieck, Whittier, Calif.; one brother, Steve Mack, Fordland; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. Henry Dorzbacher, who for the past two years operated the bakery and restaurant on the east side of the square, died at home of Horace Forrester in Ozark, where the family were temporarily residing, last Friday morning, after a short illness from typhoid fever. Mr. Dorzbacher had recently left her, going to Sapulpa, Okla., where he remained a few weeks, but returned home sick about ten days before his death. The body was prepared for burial Friday and taken to the Benz undertaking establishment in Springfield Friday evening. The deceased was a member of the W. O. W. and Knights of Pythias. He his survived by the widow and several brothers and sisters.

Sue Ryland Dosch was born near Alexandria, Louisiana on April 7, 1917. She died January 25, 2011 in Ozark, Missouri. After earning a nursing degree at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana she served as a nurse in the United States Navy during WWII. On February 15, 1946 she married George Edward Dosch who preceded her in death September 24, 1967. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Roy Ryland. She is survived by children: Sara Dosch of Dallas, Texas; Jane Dosch (Leon) Bradshaw of Rogersville, Missouri; David Dosch of Vilonia, Arkansas and grandchildren Tara (Erik) Carlgren of Denver, Colorado; Natalie Dosch of Springfield, Missouri and Ryan (Meghan) Dosch of Redmond, Washington and great-grandchildren; Caden, Paige, Rileigh, Avery Dosch and Aubrey Carlgren. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren: Kelsa (Doug) Kirtley, Dylan, Darrin, Jenna Kirtley, Brad (Brenda) Bradshaw, Stephanie, Jaqueline, and Nicole Bradshaw. John Doss, plasterer, aged 53, a former resident of this city, died in a Springfield hospital at 6 o’clock Tuesday evening, the victim of double pneumonia and other complications. He is survived by the widow and five children, the mother, Mrs. Jane Doss of Springfield, three sisters and one brother, He moved with his family to Springfield on Nov. 11, this year, and came down with pneumonia about three or four weeks ago. He had been in the hospital about two weeks when he passed away. Funeral services are to be held in Ozark at the Chaffin Funeral Home, but as we go to press, the arrangements are incomplete.

John Emerson Doss was born in Windsor, Mo., on March 18, 1884. He was united in marriage to Mary Brown on Aug. 10, 1919. To this union five children were born, Martha Jane, John William, Verma Jo, Louis and Janice, all of whom, with the mother, survive. He was converted in early manhood and united with the Baptist church of Ozark. Besides the widow and children he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Jane Doss of Springfield, three sisters, Mrs. Rose Wood of Springfield, Mrs. Lula Bolin of Oregon, Mrs. Angie Rich of Wichita, Kans., one brother, Pearl, of California, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. in the Chaffin Funeral Home with Rev. Chas. Maples officiating. Burial was made in the City cemetery under the direction of T.B. Chaffin.

Martha Doss, wife of William W. Doss, was born in Letcher county, Kentucky as Martha Bolin. She was married on February 5th, 1900. She died November 25th, 1928, in Ozark, Missouri, at the home of her aunt, Mrs. W. W. Brown. She moved to Missouri with her parents when she was about 6 years old, locating in Douglas county. After her marriage to Mr. Doss, she moved to Oklahoma City which was her residence at the time of her death. She came to Ozark last summer and remained for some time in hope of improving her health. She seemed to improved and returned to her home. She again returned to Ozark on the 23rd of November and passed away on the 25th. She had been in ill health about two years. She became a member of the Baptist church in Oklahoma City about 3 years ago. The funeral services were held from the Baptist church in Ozark on Tuesday, November 27th with the Rev. Ross Carter officiating. Burial was made in the City cemetery under the direction of B. C. Klepper.

Mary L. Doss, 94, died at, 10:15 a.m. Thursday, April 20 at the home of a grand daughter, Mary Barcliff, Ozark, with whom she resided. She was born in Ozark July 6, 1894 to William W. and Martha Jane Brown and held the distinction of being the oldest living resident born in that community. She had an excellent recall of events in the history of Ozark and wrote and published a book of its history titled Ozark Now and Then. She was of the Pentecostal faith. She married John E. Doss on Aug. 9, 1919; he preceded her in death in 1937. They were the parents of six children. One child, Louise J. Courtney, preceded her in death in November 1970. Survivors include four daughters, Martha Jane Eakins, Verma Jo Snider and Joneva Patterson, all of Ozark; and Janice Bilyeu, Oak Grove, Ark.; a son, John W. Doss, El Dorado Springs; a sister, Ramanda Barnhart, and a brother, Howard Brown. both of Ozark; 40 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.

Mrs. Minerva J. Doss, 81, widow of the late Wm. Doss, passed away Thursday, January 30 at her home, 1010 East Brower, Springfield. To the Doss union seven children were born, three of whom preceded her in death. The four children who survive are Mrs. Rose Wood of Ozark, Mrs. Andy Rich of Wichita, Kansas, Mrs. Lula Wichert of Idaho, and William of California. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. At an early age she united with the Baptist church and services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock, in the church of her choice, at Ozark, by Rev. Wm. Fox. She was laid to rest in the Ozark cemetery by the side of her son, John, who passed away three years ago. Burial was under direction of the Dunn Funeral Home of Springfield.

Mrs. Noreene (Baker) Doss, 86, passed away on September 25, in Springfield. A lifelong resident of Springfield, she was a member of the Second Baptist Church for over 70 years. Extremely talented in administration and music, she was the secretary to the Superintendent of Schools for many years and was the church organist for Second Baptist Church for over 50 years. In retirement she continued as a part-time pianist and organist for the Baptist Home in Ozark, the North Nixa Baptist Church, the Greene County Baptist Home in Ozark, and as a guest musician for numbers of weddings, funerals and other occasions. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas "Woody” Baker, mother Martha "Rilda” Johnson Baker, husband Eugene J. Doss, brother Norman "Buddy” Baker and her beloved son, David Eugene Doss. Noreene is survived by niece CiCi Baker and husband Mike Ierien; cousins Dr. C. Truett Baker, Dr. Dwight Baker, Bill Baker, and many other Baker relatives; granddaughter Nancy Bitler and husband Lee Bitler; as well as her loving extended family members, Trudy and Steve Annin, Dan Cunningham, and many other longtime loving friends. Services will be held at 1 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel on Monday, September 29, and will be officiated by Jim Schudy. Visitation will precede the service from 12 to 1 p.m. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Norman D. "Buddy” Baker Scholarship at the Southwest Baptist University Music Department, 1600 University Avenue, Bolivar, MO 65613.

Wanda Rea Doss of Eldorado Springs, was born July 20, 1935 in Gage, OK. to James H. and Susie Huffstedtler and died Oct. 29, in Springfield after a short illness. She married John W. Doss of Ozark. They lived in Wichita, KS for a number of years, moving later to Eldorado Springs. She was preceded in death by one brother James H. Huffstedtler. Survivors include her husband John W. Doss of the home, her parents of Eldorado Springs; two daughters Mary L. Day, Phoenix, AZ, Sherry S. Kuhns Wichita, KS;  one stepson, John Robert Clark, Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren Crystal G. Doss, James H. Yeazell, Stephanie M. and Elizabeth D. Kuhns; one brother Norman F. Huffstedtler, Eldorado Springs; two sisters Waneta Vickers, Wichita KS.,  Wilda Buckles, Phoenix AZ. and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother. The body was cremated under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.

He was born in St. Louis and lived in Kansas City sixty-one years before moving to Ozark in October 1976. He had been a manager of Dostal Show Company in Kansas City thirty-one years before he retired. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Dostal of the home; two sons, George B. Dostal, Jr. of Trinidad, Colorado and Robert F. Dostal of Blue Springs, Missouri; five daughters, Mrs. Shirley Marie Gass of Sparta, Mrs. Donna Rose Williams of Guffey, Colorado, Mrs. Mary Jo Hooper of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Kathleen Ann Hermann of Wichita, Kansas and Mrs. Julie Schmidt of Des Moines, Iowa; one brother, Joseph B. She was born on September 4, 1913 in Kansas City, Missouri, the oldest child of Fred James Hatch, M.D. and Ethel (Stewart) Hatch. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, George Brassart Dostal, Jr. Seven children were born of that union and are survivors: George Brassart Dostal, III, Shirley Marie Gass and husband Paul, Donna Rose Williams, Mary Jo Hooper, Kathleen Ann Hermann and husband Louis, Julie Christine Murphy, and Robert Frederick Dostal and wife Sheila. Shirley has sixteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren. Shirley was a Lay Carmelite and a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution. She had been a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Ozark since October of 1976. A Rosary service will be 9:30 AM Tuesday in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Ozark. Beverlee Ann Dotson, 68 of Ozark passed away January 8, 2010. She was born April 1, 1941 and graduated from Parkview High School. She married Jerry L. Dotson on August 8, 1959 in Springfield, Mo. Beverlee was a devoted mother and wife who enjoyed traveling, computers and spending time with her three grandsons. She was preceded in death by her father, Noman J. Walker. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; mother, Martha S. Walker; daughters, Wendy L. Dotson, Mitzi L. Mallian and husband, Jeffrey B. Mallian; grandchildren, Alexander M. Coulter, Anthony C. and Salvatorio J. Mallian.

            Jerry L. Dotson, 72, Ozark, passed away Monday October 10, 2011 at St. John's Hospital Springfield, Missouri. Jerry was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1957 and retired from Hiland Dairy. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Erma Dotson, brother Michael and wife Beverlee. He is survived by daughters Wendy and Mitzi Dotson, three grandsons, Alexander Coulter, Anthony and Salvatorio Mallian. Graveside service will be held on Monday October 24 10:00 a.m. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens 5234 W State Hwy EE (W Division) Springfield, Mo; under the direction of Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel.

Claude Doty, 75, of Galena, died March 8 following a fire at his home. Services for Mr. Doty were held March 11 at the Meadors Chapel, Clever, with the Rev. Kenneth McIntosh officiating. Burial was in Clio Cemetery near Jenkins: Mr. Doty's survivors include his wife, Virginia; two sons, Robert John of Highlandville and Carl of Galena; three daughters, Sue Doty, Springfield, Sandra Smith, Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Claudia Mendenhall, Republic; one brother, Jessie Audry Doty, Springfield; two sisters, Reva Jones and Henna Edwards, both of Galena; and six grandchildren.

Richard “Rick” Eugene Doty of Ozark, Missouri was born in Granite City, Illinois on August 26, 1955. He passed away Saturday, February 15, 2003 in Springfield. Rick’s chosen profession was woodworking and wood finishing. Before his retirement, Rick was employed by Haik’s Wood Design of Ozark. Rick and Marvene Jean Moehle were married on June 2, 1979. They moved to this area after the birth of their son, Jared Eugene Doty. Rick and Marvene are members of Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Nixa. Survivors include: his wife, Marvene; a son, Jared, Ft. Riley, Kansas; his parents, Robert and Amelia Astorian of Granite City, Ill.; two sisters, Lora Bancroft and her husband Steve of Jacksonville, Fla, and Julianne Breden and husband Dennis of Hardin, Ill; a brother, Craig Astorian and his wife Mary of Granite City, Ill.; two nieces; three nephews; and one great-niece. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Dale Bond officiating. Burial will follow in Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark. Virginia E. Doty, 88, Republic, a former resident of Ponce De Leon, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007 in her home. She was born January 8, 1919, in Barry County, Missouri to Joseph and Mae (Evans) Gamble. Virginia was united in marriage to Claude Doty on March 9, 1939. They worked the farms and raised their five children in Barry and Stone Counties settling in Ponce de Leon. She loved dogs and has had one as a constant companion for the past 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude, on March 8, 1989; her parents; seven siblings, Howard Gamble, Jerry Gamble, Steve Gamble, Ruth Owen, Doris Gamble and Shirley Grider; and a set of twin great-grandchildren. Her survivors include five children and their spouses, Carl and Linda Doty, Shell Knob, Robert and Tomi Doty, Highlandville, Carolyn S. Doty, Republic, Sandy Cantwell, Phoenix, Ariz., and Claudia and Bill Mendenhall, Marionville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, John C. Gamble and a sister, Marion Gamble, both of Hurley; other friends and relatives. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007, in Clio Cemetery, Jenkins, Mo., under direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Clever. Funeral services for Francis M. Doubt, 87, of Kirbyville, formerly of Ozark, were held at 2 p.m. today in the Whelchel Chapel in Branson with the Rev. Gene  Bates officiating. Burial was in Ozark Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Doubt died Monday after noon in the Christian County Nursing Home. He was a member of the Branson Christian Church. Surviving are three sons. Loren Doubt of Springfield, Stanley Doubt of Kirbyville, and Alvin Doubt of El Campo, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Clithero, Wichita, Kan. and Mrs. Roy Wood of Blue Springs; one brother, William Doubt of Lincoln, Neb.; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Francis, of the home; three sons, Loren, Springfield, Stanley, Kirbyville, and Alvin, El Campo, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Clithero, Wichita, Kan. and Mrs. Roy Wood, Chamois; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Mrs. Doubt was a former resident of the Selmore community.

            Charles William Douds, of Springfield died Friday evening, Nov. 18, 2011, at his home, with family at his side. He was born May 14, 1927, in Spaulding, the son of Francis Edwin and Alice Adelia (Silver) Douds. Douds was a U.S. Army veteran and a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Idaho City, Idaho. He had lived in Springfield and the surrounding area since 1994 and enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and long rides in the country. Douds is survived by: five children and their spouses, Steve and SanDee Douds, Boise, Idaho, Darrel and Pam Douds, Springfield, Gary Douds, Springfield, Tim and Barbara Douds, Ventura, Calif., and Peggy and Larry Robbins, Richmond, Va.; several grandchildren; a sister, Janet Thacker, Boise, Idaho; and other relatives and friends. A graveside service was at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, in Evergreen Cemetery, Republic, with Chaplain Franklin Reagan officiating, under direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, Missouri.
