She was a member of the Walnut Street Christian Church, a member of the Ozarks Grandmother Club and a member of the Crescent Chapter of the Eastern Star. Ines Blansit Harris, 73, Chestnutridge, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 1994, in her home. She was born Dec. 19, 1921, at Bluff in Taney County, the daughter of Chester and Mabel St. Clair Blansit. She lived in Kansas City, Kan. for many years and on Aug. 18, 1939, she was united in marriage to Floyd Harris. They returned to this area in 1970. She was a member of Spokane Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Ernest Blansit; and a sister, Reva Moore. Survivors include her husband, Floyd; her mother, Mabel Blansit, Hollister; four children and their spouses, Sharlene and Richard McKee, Nixa, Johnny Harris, Chestnutridge, Richard and Jana Harris, Leavenworth; Kan., and Robert and Celia Harris, Kansas City, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Louise Blansit, Basehor, Kan.; a brother-in-law, Eugene Moore, Kansas City, Kan.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with the Rev. Jeff Stott and the Rev. Gary Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Schupbach Cemetery. James Harold Harris, Chadwick, passed away August 26, 2001 in his home. He was born May 25, 1929 to Harold and Audra (Brown) Harris in Chadwick, Mo. Jim lived in Chadwick most of his life. He graduated from Chadwick High School and attended Drury College. Jim served in the Korean Conflict with the Medical Corps from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of the Chadwick General Baptist Church. Jim owned and managed the MFA Store in Chadwick until shortly before his death. On September 10, 1954 he married Avaline True. One son, James Marcus, was born, was born on July 14, 1955. On March 22, 1972 James Marcus met death in an automobile accident. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Harold Harris, and his son, James Marcus Harris. He is survived by his wife, Avaline, of the home; his mother, Audra of Chadwick; aunts, Nina Brown and Shirl Roller; brothers-in-law, Wayne true and wife Helen, Bertram True and wife, Berniece, Daryl True and wife Macy; a sister-in-law, Chrystal Melton and husband Bill; several cousins, Leon Harris, Marsha Harris, Bruce Harris, Jack Weimer, Nick Weimer, Denny Brown, Dale Brown, Joe Herd; other relatives; and numerous friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2001 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Chadwick Memorial Cemetery. Accident Kills Chadwick Youth

An auto accident just north of Chadwick at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday claimed the life of a 16-year-old Chadwick youth. Dead on arrival at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, was James Harris, who was hurled from his auto when it overturned on a curve on Hwy 125. The vehicle was traveling south, toward Chadwick. Young Harris, a junior at Chadwick High School, was on the honor roll and president of the class. He was also a member of the basketball, baseball and track teams, hand participated in 4-H work for six years, and was a teen teacher. A member of the Chadwick Baptist Church, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Harris, Chadwick; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harris, Chadwick and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy True, Urbana. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Harris of Ozark.

James Marcus Harris was born on June 14, 1955. The was the son of James Harold and Avaline Harris of Chadwick, Missouri. Mark Harris was a junior at Chadwick High School, was on the honor roll and president of his class. He was also a member of the basketball, baseball and track teams. He was manager of the volleyball team and involved in all school activities. He had been active in 4-H work for six years and was serving as a teen teacher. He departed this life at the age of 16 years, 9 months and 8 days. He was converted on July 10, 1966 and united with the Chadwick Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Harris of the home in Chadwick; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harris of Chadwick, maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. True of Urbana and a host of other relatives and friends.

James Thomas (J.T.) Harris, 72, of Sapulpa, Okla., died Wednesday, Jan. 13, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Mr. Harris was born Sept. 13, 1921 in Chadwick, and lived in Ozark until 1950, when he moved to Sapulpa. He was the president and owner of Creek County Abstract Co. until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Sapulpa Elks Lodge, Rotary Club, Coffee Club at Biscuits Plus, and the Oklahoma Land Title Association. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sapulpa and attended the University of Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife, Joyce; four sons, Mike Harris, Sapulpa, James Crowe, Broken Arrow, Okla., David Crowe, Bath, Ohio, and King Crowe, Scottsdale; two daughters, Suzy Ham and Nancy Fisher, both of Sapulpa; and 11 grandchildren, Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 16, at First Presbyterian Church, Sapulpa, with Dr. John Nelson officiating. Burial was at Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Sapulpa, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Junior Davis, Charlie Ham, Bruce Harris, Roy Baxter; Phillip Jones and Grant Sivadon. Jane Elizabeth "Nana" Harris, age 66, of Bruner, passed away Thursday, November 4, 1999, in her home. She was born March 18, 1933 in Lewiston, New York and was the daughter of John and Stella (Kulak) Braden. On January 31, 1952 she and Doyle R. Harris were married. She dearly loved her husband, children, and grandchildren, and will be missed by all of them. John Harris, aged 21 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harris, of Ozark, died at Phoenix, Arizona, May 27, 1926 after a lingering illness. The remains were shipped to Ozark for burial and arrived in Springfield Sunday morning and brought to Ozark by undertaker, T. B. Chaffin. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. B. Frank West with interment in the city cemetery under direction of T. B. Chaffin. The deceased put up a long fight against tuberculosis, but like the vast majority of these cases, lost the fight. He leaves the parents, three sisters, two half sisters and three half brothers to mourn his death.

J. Dean Harris, 60, Ozark, died of natural causes at 10:28 p.m. Monday in St. John’s Regional Health Center shortly after being admitted. Mr. Harris was a native of Chadwick and attended SMSA and graduated from the St. Louis College of Mortuary Science. He operated funeral homes in Nixa, Billings and Clever for 14 years before moving to Ozark in 1962, where he continued to operated funeral homes in Nixa and Ozark. The Christian County Coroner for 2 2years, Mr. Harris was past president of the Ninth District Missouri Funeral Directors association, He was also a member of Southside Church of Christ, Ozark Rotary Club, Friend Masonic Lodge No. 352, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and the Scottish Rite Consistory. Mr. Harris served in the Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, Alan and Bruce, both of Ozark; his mother, Mrs. Ruth Harris, Nixa; a sister, Mrs. Mary Lee Aton, Springfield; and three grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Harris Chapel, Ozark with Charles White officiating. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery.

He was born near Sparta and was associated with his father and three brothers in a general store at Chadwick from 1916 until he established his own store there in 1936. The original store was one of the largest general stores in Christina County, dealing in merchandise ranging from food to furniture, livestock feed, buggies, wagons and even caskets. Mr. Harris Took care of the funeral business in the area with a horse drawn hearse. He moved to Billings in 1949, living at the Harris Funeral Home there until moving to Nixa in 1962. He was a member of Nixa Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruby J.; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Lee Aton, Springfield; a son, Dean, Ozark; five grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one brother, Rex, Sapulpa, Okla.

John William Harris, 67, Ozark, Missouri, passed away on August 3, 2009, in his home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on August 9th, 1941, to Jim J. and Grace E. Harris. John was preceded in death by his father, Jim J. Harris and his brother, Elvard Harris. He is survived by his mother, Grace Harris Harrison; his loving wife of 47 years, Beverly (McGlassion) Harris; son, Timothy J. Harris and wife, Mary; a very special grandson, Ethan, all of Ozark, Missouri. Other surviving family includes brother-in-law, Gary and his wife, Barbara McGlassion of Branson West, Missouri, their extended family and a large number of loving cousins. He also leaves behind many treasured friends and co-workers. John was a retired barber and Fire Marshal with the Springfield Fire Department, serving 28 years. He was also a bomb technician, having attended FBI bomb school in Huntsville, Alabama. He was a member of Kingsway United Methodist Church for the last 32 years. John was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and horseback riding. He enjoyed numerous trips to Alaska gaining the nickname "Camp Concierge" for his cooking and camp management skills. He and his son Tim shared many wonderful adventures together including a South African Safari, Alaska hunting excursions, and many other fishing and hunting trips. Visitation will be August 6, 2009 in the chapel of Kingsway United Methodist Church, 2401 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be August 7, 2009, at 1 p.m., also at Kingsway United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Jon Spalding officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and deposited at the church. Adams Funeral Home, in Ozark, Missouri, is handling arrangements. The family wishes to thank all of their friends for all the thoughts, prayers, kindness, and visits extended during John's illness.

Lyle Allan Harris, well known jazz guitarist, passed away July 2, 2011, from complications following a stroke. He was born Dec. 4, 1933, in Kansas City, the son of Brickey William and Mabel Irene (Howard) Harris. Missed by his wife Lucinda Dailey, of Ozark, his son Nathan Harris, Colorado Springs, his mother Mabel Harris, Butler, his father the late Brickey William Harris, his sister, Regena Rook, Lee Summit. Lyle graduated from Butler High, joined the Air Force, and was stationed in Japan. He arrived in Columbia to complete a graduate degree in community development,and developed a lifelong love of the Columbia community. He lived 3 years in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Lyle came to the Springfield area, where he continued sharing his passions for music, libraries and good food, until the very end. Mary A. Robinson was born Feb. 10, 1859, and departed this life at her home in Nixa, May 29, 1931, at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 19 days. She was united in marriage to John E. Harris, Oct. 4, 1876. To this union three children were born, the eldest died in infancy and two survive her: Mrs. Ora Gamble of Tulsa, OK; Mrs. Maude M. Goddard of Springfield and also survived by two grandchildren, Royce and Carolyn Goddard. Sister Harris has always been religiously inclined and has lived a clean moral life. In Sept. 1919, she became a member of the Church of Christ under the preaching of Brother William J. Whaley, and has been one of the most faithful members of the congregation in Nixa. The loss sustained in her death will be keenly felt by all. She was a faithful, dutiful wife, a loving mother, and a respectable citizen. But in the midst of our sorrow we consider that our great loss is her greater gain, for we believe she was ready for the great day of trial. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 31, at 2 pm, at the Church of Christ in Nixa, with Rev. Stephen Settle officiating. Burial was made in the Payne cemetery under the direction of Harding and Wilburn Maples Funeral Home--Contributed.

Matthew was born December 26, 1985, in Rogers, Ark., and had lived in Arkansas all of his life. He worked for Crossland Construction. Harris, 70, who died enroute to a doctor’s office after suffering a heart attack in his home about 11 p.m. Thursday, were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chadwick High School auditorium with the Rev. Melvin Terry officiating. Burial was in the Chadwick Cemetery under direction of Harris of Clever. Mr. Harris was a resident of Chadwick most of his life and had been in the general merchant business about 50 years before retirement in January 1958. Survivors are his wife, Ada; two sons, Morris and Leon, both of Chadwick; a daughter, Miss Marsha Harris of the home; two grandchildren; three brothers, John of Billings, Rex of Sapulpa, Okla. and Harold of Chadwick.

Max Morris "Buckshot" Harris, 68, Chadwick, Mo., passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield. Max was born Sunday, Feb. 7, 1932 in Chadwick, the son of Max Herbert and Ada Mae (Brown) Harris. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and independent owner of a pest control business for many years. A lifelong resident of Chadwick, "Buckshot's" presence will be missed by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law,. Brian Wheeler. He is survived by his sons, Maurice Harris and wife Lisa and Garry Harris, all of Chadwick; a daughter Karla Wheeler and two grandchildren, Whitney and Hunter Wheeler all of Ozark; a brother and his wife, Leon and Marlene Harris; a niece, Gail Harris and a sister Marsha Harris and Floyd Redburn, all of Chadwick; his aunts, Ina Ray Johnson, Hartville, Helen Armstrong, Sandy, Utah, Flo Brown, Sparta; his uncles, Amos Brown, Chestnutridge, Lloyd Brown, Md., Herbert Brown, Calif., and also surviving are many cousins. May Lucille Harris, age 78, of the Highlandville area, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2005, in Christian Health Care, Nixa. She was born May 18, 1927, in Springfield, the daughter of Ulva and Ivy Viola (Cornett) Jones. On November 15, 1952, she and Clyde Arthur Harris were united in marriage. They attended Craig Hollow Church. Mrs. Harris retired from Allied Bus Sales. She had also worked as a school cook in Highlandville, and did upholstering. She enjoyed making crafts, afghans, quilts, and toys. Survivors include her husband, Clyde: three children and their spouses, Tex and Joy Harris, Highlandville, Susan and Russell Jacobs, Fort Drum, N.Y., and Yolanda and Mike Baldus, Nixa; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde Jones, Tulsa, and Cecil Jones, Rogersville; three sisters, Leetta McCroskey, Monett, Marcella O'Connor, Niangua, and Ivyonne Galloway, Fordland; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Leo Jones. Mont Harris passes away. Succumbs to attack of pneumonia. Ill slightly short of a week, funeral services held Tuesday at Christian Church was member of local America Legion Post. Mont Harris, aged 40 years, 8 months and 20 days, died at his home in the west part of Ozark, Monday morning, April 11 at 2 o’clock, following an illness of slightly less than a week. Mont was the victim of a most severe and quickly acting case of pneumonia. Less than a week ago Mont spent the day in the field plowing and late in the evening returned to his home and suffered a severe chill. The case of pneumonia developed rapidly and proved fatal on Monday morning of this week. Mr. Harris is survived by his father, who lives in the vicinity of Riverdale, in which part of the county Mont was born. The widow and three children, Charles, Edna and Virginia also survive, as do two sisters and six brothers. For several years Mr. Harris conducted a barber shop on the east side of the square in the room now occupied by the Wesenick Shoe Shop. Over a year ago he sold his shop and building and bought the City Barber Shop from Soud Wallace, later selling it to Stanford Bilyeu. Since the sale to Mr. Bilyeu, Mont has been out of a shop. He was a charter member of the Graham-Wasson Post of the American Legion and was serving the Post as finance officer at the time of his death. The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the Christian Church with Rev. Ross Carter officiating. Burial took place in the City Cemetery under the auspices of B.C. Klepper, with the Legion in charge of the services at the grave and serving as military escorts. The local post was assisted in the services by members of the Springfield Post, who came in considerable number, in uniform and with their Commander and Chaplain, who conducted the services in behalf of the local Post.

Noel Bryan Harris, age 86, of Nixa, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008. He was born September 18, 1921, in Ft. Collins, Colorado. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. On March 23, 1951 he and Marilyn Bernice Watts were united in marriage. Throughout his career, Mr. Harris was a builder, a plumber, and an electrician. He loved his family and they all will miss him very much. Survivors include his wife, Bernice; two daughters and their husbands, Connie and James Gardner, Lake of the Ozarks, and Terrie and Larry Daniels, Nixa; four grandchildren, Michael Dill, Kelsie Nunnly and husband Dan, Nathan Daniels, and Jeffrey Gardner and wife Linda; and a great-grandson, Mitchel Gardner. Nona Belle Harris, age 92, of Nixa, died Friday, February 6, 1998, in Ozark Riverview Manor. She was born January 30, 1906 in Highlandville and was the daughter of Lee and Lillie (Ellingsworth) Deboie. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include: Six children, Marcella Fannin; Lakewood, Calif., Clyde Harris; Ozark, Joetta Headrick, Tulsa; Okl., Phil Harris, Nixa, Victor Harris, Springfield, and Dale Harris, Carthage; seventeen grandchildren; numerous great-and great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Nomel Powers, Nixa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, on June 9; 1981; a daughter, Norma Dear Devlin; an infant son; four sisters; and a brother. Norma Lurene Harris, 77, Ava, passed away July 12, 2008, surrounded by her loving family at St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Lurene was born April 25, 1931, in Ditt, the daughter of Worden and Velma (Rice) Turley. On Jan. 8, 1962, Lurene was united in marriage to Leon Harris. Lurene was an extraordinary lady whose trademark was a beautiful smile and always placed everyone’s needs before her own. She was family oriented, very caring and often gave help to others, sometimes sacrificially. Her gifts of help blended into her daily connections with her loving family and friends. Lurene was a natural with raising flowers and vegetable gardens. She loved the outdoors, fishing, and sitting peacefully on the porch. Ultimately, Lurene will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and will be missed by many. Lurene was preceded in death by her parents, a son Larry Pitts, a daughter Debra Harris, and a brother Boyd Turley. P. Bruce Harris, age 49, of Ozark, passed away at his home on Saturday morning, Sept. 27, 2003, in peace, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Springfield on February 7, 1954, to J. Dean and Mary E. Harris. Bruce is a native of Clever where he attended grade school until his family moved to Ozark in 1962. He graduated from Ozark High School in 1972 and furthered his education by attending the University of Arkansas. He graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science and was associated with his family's Harris Funeral Home business for nearly a decade. Bruce was elected Christian County Circuit Clerk and Recorder in 1982 and served the public for twenty years, until the office was split in 2003. He was currently serving another term as Christian County's Circuit Clerk. Bruce was baptized at age thirteen and was a member of Ozark United Methodist Church. He was a longtime member and Past Master of the Sparta Lodge #296 A.F. and A.M. He was preceded in death by his father, J. Dean Harris; his brother, Alan T. Harris; father-in-law, Bill Scott; mother-in-law, Surina Scott; paternal grandparents, John and Ruby Harris; and maternal grandparents, John and Ida Simpson. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Debbie; two children, Caleb John Harris of Ozark, and Annie Elizabeth Harris, Ozark; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Paul Goan of Houston, Texas; four nieces; many aunts and uncles; cousins; and a host of friends. Robert N. Harris was born February 9, 1884, son of Thomas J. and Margaret Ellen Harris, in Christian County, MO, and passed away at his home on route 2, Fordland, MO on February 10, 1952. Most of his life was spent in the Riverdale community, south of Nixa, with the exception of the short time in the Fordland community. On March 24, 1905 he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Stephens and to this union were born four children. A daughter and his son preceded him in death. Mr. Harris was converted and baptized at the Riverdale Baptist church in 1922. Surviving include his wife, Mary Elizabeth; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Turner of Fordland and Miss Saddie Harris of Springfield; one sister Mrs. Maggie Keysser of Highlandville; four brothers, his twin, Richard N. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Frances Harris. He is survived by four daughters; one son; one special son-in-law; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Ruby J. Harris, 88, Nixa, died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 1990 in. St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, after a short illness. She had resided in Chadwick through her earlier years of life with her late husband, John Harris. There they owned and operated one of the largest general stores in Christian County, dealing in food, furniture, clothing, housewares and caskets. It was during that time that they operated a funeral business with their store. In 1947, they, along with their son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Mary Harris, purchased three existing funeral homes in Nixa, Clever and Billings. In 1962, Ruby and John Harris moved from Billings to Nixa, where, after John Harris' death, she continued to work in the funeral home until retirement in 1988. Ruby Harris was a member of Nixa Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star in Nixa. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lee Aton, Springfield; five grandchildren, Bruce and Alan Harris, Ozark, Cindy Phillips, Clever, Marty Little, Nixa, and Karen Williams, Springfield; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were Saturday in Harris Colonial Chapel, Ozark. Burial was in Chadwick Memorial Cemetery.

Terry Lee Harris. age 49, of Ozark, died Thursday, June 25, 1998, due to cancer, in St. John’s Regional Health Center, Springfield. He was burn Aug. 10, 1948, in Desoto. and was the son of Elva and Virginia (Midget) Harris. He served its country in the U.S. Air Force. On Aug. 22 1969, he and Cheryl Ann Herbst were married. They had lived in Ozark for 11 years. Harris was employed by Springfield Railways. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Survivors include: his wife. Cheryl, two children: Brian and Kelly Harris. both of the home; a brother, Don Harris and his wife, Marlene, Hollywood, Md.; and their children, Karlene Gardner and her husband Brian, and Douglas Harris; a sister, L'Wana Ray and her husband, Bill, Festus; and their children, Heather, Erica. and Joscelyn Ray; and many other relatives. His parents preceded him in death. A funeral mass was 10 a.m. Monday, June 29, in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Ozark. A wake service was 6 p.m. Sunday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Thomas Harris, 86, of Chadwick, father of John Harris, well known undertaker of Billings, died Sunday at Haguewood Hospital in Ozark, after a month’s illness. A native of Sparta, Mr. Harris bought a general store in Chadwick in 1901, and before he retired in ’38, he owned three general stores there. Following his retirement he operated a farm near Marionville for a year, then returned to Chadwick. He started one of the first undertaking establishments in Christian County, using a horse-drawn hearse.

Thomas Harris, 86 of Chadwick died Sunday, Oct. 9 at Haguewood Hospital in Ozark after several months illness. A native of Sparta, Mr. Harris bought a general store in Chadwick in 1901, and before he retired in 1938, owned three general stores there. Following retirement, he operated a farm near Marionville for a years and then returned to Chadwick. He started one of the first undertaking establishments in Christian County, using a horse-drawn hearse. Survivors include his wife, Anna; four sons, Max of Chadwick, John of Billings, Rex of Sapulpa, Okla, former Christian County Clerk and abstracter, John of Springfield, [sic - obit does give John as name of two sons ] seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Chadwick Baptist Church by the Rev. Roy Shipman. Pallbearers were Morris Harris, Leon Harris, Vern Rozell, Charles Atkinson, Jimmy Little, Jimmy Harris and Cecil Stevens. Burial was in Ozark Cemetery under direction of Harris of Clever.
