Inman, Fred Wil 18 Sep 1873 - 29 Aug 1902 CCR 11 Sep 1902
In Memory of Fred W. Inman
Fred W. Inman, son of N. A. and Mary J. Inman, was born Sept. 18th, 1873 and died Aug 29, 1902. The greater part of his life was spent at his childhood home near Nixa, Missouri. By his honest and integrity, together with his kind and sympathetic nature, he won the respect of many friends, On the 9th of Sept, 1893, he was married to Miss Mary Nickles of Sparta, Missouri/ To them were given two precious little souls who are now left alone to the mother’s love and care/ It had long been Fred’s desire to qualify himself for the practice of law and last winter, when stricken down with pneumonia, he was reading hard and anxiously looking forward to the time when he should pass the examination and enter upon the duties of his profession. But his sickness rapidly went into consumption. Spring came and went but brought no relief to him. Believing a change might do him some good, he was taken from his home in Nixa to the home of his wife’s father. Realizing no relief, he begged to be carried back home, but his friends though him too weak for the trip and with kindness and sympathy, they continued their anxious watch until the weary eyelids closed in death. And now the books whose pages had been so earnestly perused and the guitar that by the touch of his fingers made sweet music as a rest from study and care are sadly and tenderly put away. Mary will remember the songs he sang and she will talk to Waldo and baby Irena of their papa who was kind and good, but “Papa’s” hands are folded and now the voice they loved so well will sing for them no more. According to Fred’s own request, he was buried in his Oddfellows brothers cemetery at Ozark and Brother Foster of Sparta conducted the funeral service, giving words of consolation and advice to the relatives and friends present. Being reared by Christian parents, Fred was taught to love and reverence the God of grace, wisdom and truth; at the age of fourteen, he confessed his faith in the Redeemer of the world and obeyed the commands of the gospel, which brought him into fellowship with the Disciples of Christ. As he grew into manhood, he, like many others have done, neglected the things necessary for spiritual growth and for a while did not claim identify with the people of God. But later in life, with full faith and repentance, he returned to the Heavenly Father; and when he knew that death was near, he told his sister Martha that he was perfectly satisfied. A few hours before he ceased to talk, he expressed a desire to see his absent brothers and sisters. And it is the earnest prayer of the writer that the remaining members of this broken family may so live that they too may meet God in peace, that their departed parents may once more enjoy the presence of their children without the loss of one; and that the widowed Mary may sit at the foot of Jesus, who will comfort and sustain her in this her sad bereavement. Inman, Raymond Theodore 15 Sep 1910 - 12 Dec 1913 CCR 26 Dec 1913 p1
[Note: Son of William David & Artie May (McConnell) Inman; surname spelling from tombstone varies from obit]
Again the grim reaper has visited our midst and taken the joy and sunshine of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Inmon; taken their darling little son Raymond. Raymond Theodore Inmon was born Sept. 15, 1910 and died Dec 11, 1913, aged three years two months and twenty-six days. For 11 days and nights, those near and dear to this precious little one with sad and aching hearts did everything that human aid could do for the one so near and dear. But, alas, it was soon plain to all how weak human aid was in comparison with the Power on high. It seems that when the gardener goes in to his garden or the shepherd into his fold, he takes the fairest and best for his chosen ones. Oh, it was so hard to give up the darling of this home, “But thy Will” not mine be done. He calmly and peacefully submitted to his call and without a struggle, little Raymond crossed over the chilly stream of death where there will be no more sickness nor sorrow. Oh, may it be that as he entered the beautiful gate stood loved ones watching and waiting to welcome the Angel home. Little Raymond was such a sweet and obedient child. All that knew him loved him. He so eagerly took his medicine and knew all till the last ray of life had departed. His dear little body was laid to rest in the McConnell cemetery in the presence of a host of friends and relatives to mourn his loss. Bro., Roberts conducted the service and made many friends. “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted,” Precious darling, he has left us. Left us yes, forever more, But we hope to meet our darling On that bright and happy shore. Lonely this house and sad the hours Since our dead one had gone, But oh A brighter home than ours In Heaven is now his home. A Friend
