Chaffin of Ozark. In loving memory of this departed one, Merl Melton has contributed the following: “Darling father how we miss you, so hard to give you up. There’s a vacant place in our home, which never can be filled. Darling Father we know from the way you talked before you died that you are happy in Heaven and we feel that our loss is Heaven’s gain. We have lost our darling father, he has bid us all adieu, he has gone to live in Heaven, and his form is lost to view. Oh that dear one how we loved him, oh, how hard to give him up, but an angel came down for him, and removed him from our home. Earth has lost its look of goodness, Heaven seems to be more bright, since the spirit of our loved one took its happy homeward flight. And we long to cross the river, long to rest upon the shore, where we know we’ll live forever with our fathers evermore. Goodbye precious, darling father, yes, good-bye, just for awhile, soon we’ll meet beyond the shadow there to wear a heavenly smile.”

She was a kind and loving wife and mother, making friends wherever she went. She was an invalid for some months previous to her death, suffering great pain, yet she endured it all patiently, and at the end drew nigh, she expressed herself willing to go. While still fondly clinging to her earthly friends with a natural love, yet the summons found her waiting, and when it come on the 14th inst. she simply sweetly fell asleep in Jesus. Her funeral was preached at the family residence in Springfield, Mo. by her pastor, Rev. W. O. Anderson, pastor of First Baptist Church of that city, from the text John 14:1. Her remains were brought her and interred in the Odd fellows cemetery, mile and a half south east of town. May the Lord comfort the bereaved hearts of husband and sorrowing daughters.  A Friend.

In Memorium

In loving memory of my dear husband, Landon Melton. This would have been our 50th wedding anniversary. October 3rd, we two were wed. Our wedding vows to each other were said. He brought much joy into my life and I was proud to be his wife. God granted us 48 years. We had lots of sunshine, but there were tears. I thank the Lord for our years together. God’s love and blessing were beyond measure. The Lord called him home. I miss him so and am alone. The Lord helps me my grief to bear. Heaven seems nearer, now that he’s there. Friends and loved ones miss him, but soon, like him we too can go to heaven. God’s eternal day and with our loved ones for ever to stay. June Lee Melton
