Double Homicide Near Billings Drug Related

January 2 southwest of Billings, Charles Crowley of Nixa found the two bodies of Jim R. Sullivan, 44, and Cheryl Lynn Osborn, 28, in separate outbuildings on a farm. Crowley was helping the couple build a house and found the bodies when he arrived for work. He immediately called the Christian County Sheriff’s Department.

Both had died of multiple gunshot wounds, and were laying on their backs in two red metal barns on the 20-acre farm owned by one of the victims. Christian County Sheriff Dwight McNiel described the double homicide as purely as assassination.

Autopsy results showed that two guns, a shotgun and handgun, were used on the victims. The autopsy was performed by a staff pathologist at St. John’s Regional Health Center, Springfield.

Drugs and chemicals were found on the site. McNiel said they also found quite a bit of money. both on and around the victims, so robbery was clearly not the motive. A large quantity of drugs, paraphernalia and chemicals used in processing drugs were found on the farm. McNiel speculated that the chemical items used in the manufacturing of drugs were stored there.

The deaths were attributed to being possibly drug related.

Several guns were also found on the farm.

Sullivan and Osborn were both known by the Special Investigation Unit of the Springfield Police Department, but it is not known whether they were under investigation.

Officers from the Sheriff’s Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and SIU were on the scene most of the day last Thursday investigating the double homicide.

Sheriff McNiel said Tuesday that there were no new developments in the case, and the investigation continues.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the murder of Michael Lee Sparks whose body was found December 22 in the James River. The 33-year-old Manila, Arkansas, man had been shot three times in the chest.

Osborne, Geneva L. “Jenny" (Andrys) 12 Dec 1912 - 7 Jul 2008 CCH-N 16 Jul 2008

[Note: Daughter of Albert P. & Mary (Lachowicz) Andrys; married 25 Oct 1934 Paul Osborne ? - 1990]

Geneva "Jenny" L. Osborne, 95, Ozark, formerly of National City, Calif., joined her Savior on July 7, 2008, in the home of her family. Jenny was born Dec.12, 1912--12-12-12--a fact that she was extremely proud of, she was born in Turtle River Lake, Minn., to Albert P. and Mary (Lachowicz) Andrys. Both of Jenny's parents were born in Austria and came to America through Ellis Island, New York in 1907. After the death of her mother in 1915, Jenny went to live with foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Klodniski (Klodd) in Chisholm, Minn., with her father’s blessing. She believed this "to be the best thing my father could have done for me". The Klodd's owned a barber shop, soda fountain and candy store in which she worked from the age 9. Jenny also helped care for the three Klodd boys. While visiting her brother in Duluth, she met the love of her life, Paul Osborne. They were married Oct. 25, 1934. Not only were her best friends Alma and Rueben Gerlinger (Paul's sister and brother-in-law) at her wedding, Alma helped bring their first born daughter, Pat into this world on June 10, 1935. Jeanette, their second daughter was born in 1936. In 1942, during the depression, both families packed up and moved to California. Paul had always been a craftsman, and became a fulltime carpenter for Jobs of Defense Housing in San Diego, Calif. Paul built their home in 1953 in National City, Calif. Jenny volunteered at Chula Vista Food Banks and local elections that took place in and around National City. Jenny worked at Rhor Aircraft and quit to stay home and raise the two girls. Jenny lived by herself after Paul passed away in 1990, managing her home, rental house, and living independently. In 2001 she decided to move to Ozark to live by her daughter, Pat and her husband Dave Lewis, grandson Paul Lewis and granddaughter Teresa and her husband Randy Bruns. She lived and cared for herself in a trailer in Dave's backyard until June 23, when her body retired her to bed and she moved in with Teresa and Randy. Jenny was re-baptized on Nov. 17, 2007, which she said "was the most wonderful thing that had happened to her in a long, long time." Jenny was an inspiration to everyone and anyone that had the honor to know her. Her drive and love of life and love for people was contagious. Her caring attributes will carry on in everyone she touched. Her gardening and "puttsying" around in the garden with Dave, and the letters and phone calls she received from her loved ones kept her alive. Jenny is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Pidgeon of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; her son-in-law and wife Dave and Janice Lewis of Ozark; her granddaughter and husband Teresa and Randy Bruns of Nixa; two grandsons Rick and Tom Pidgeon, Calif.; one grandson Donald Pidgeon of Michigan, and Renea Lawlor her youngest grandchild, also of California. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved ones she considered family. Jenny was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Mary Andrys; her husband Paul E. Osborne, in 1990; her daughter Pat Lewis, in 2005; her grandson Paul E. Lewis, in 2007.
