Nellie G. Stinnett, 89, Ozark, died April 14, 2002, in Ozark Residential Care Center, Ozark, one month before her 90th birthday. She was born May 28, 1912, in Douglas County to John C. and Dora E. (Taber) Hunt. She was a wife, mother and a homemaker. For many years, she and her husband, Grant Stinnett, farmed and operated the Garrison General Store in Garrison before retiring. She was a member of Ozark General Baptist Church and the Quilters Group at the Ozark Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband Grant Stinnett; an infant son; one sister, Josephine; and three brothers Ralph, Fred and Paul Hunt. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Washam and husband Willis, Springfield; one granddaughter, Monte Wessel and husband Tom, Sarasota, Fla.; one grandson Gregory Washam and wife Tamara, Jamison, Pa.; four great-grandsons Eric, Gregory and Kevin Wessel and Jeremy Washam; two sisters-in-law Georgia Hunt, Springfield and Henrietta Hunt, Sparta. Funeral services were held April 18 at Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. Carla Endicott and Rev. Vernon Fuller officiating. Burial followed in Garrison Cemetery. Funeral services for Ray E. Stinnett, 73 of Yakima, Wash. who died June 7, 1976 were held June 10 in Keith Chapel in Yakima with burial at West Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Stinnett was born and reared at Garrison, Mo. and moved to the state of Washington in 1942. He and his wife Lola celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary March 11 of this year. Besides his wife, he is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Jo Lee Morgan, Union, Ore., Mrs. Chloe Jean Carlson, Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Mavis MacPherson, Yakima, Wash., Mrs. Peggie L’Heureaux and Mrs. Oddie Lombard both of La Grande, Ore. and Mrs. Jackie Noret, Selah, Wash. Three sons, Bill Stinnett, Bossier, La., Darrell Stinnett, La Grande, Ore., George Stinnett, Yakima. Three sisters, Mrs. Florence Adams, Springfield, Mrs. Mildred Stevens, Augusta, Kan. and Mrs. Juanita Hamblet, Venice, Calif.; 27 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Alvin Stinson, a civil war veteran, aged about 82 years, living in the east part of town, died suddenly at his home about 5:00 o’clock a.m. Thursday, March we, 1925. T. B. Chaffin was called to prepare the body for burial, but funeral arrangements are incomplete awaiting the arrival of children who live in or near Joplin.

Imogene Bilyeu Stinson died July 24, 2005 in Glendora, California. She was 82 years old. She leaves behind three daughters; Rena, Amy and Melissa and one son Allen, four grandchildren and a brother Jim Bilyeu. She was the daughter of James Everett Bilyeu and Lena Etta White. Imogene was born in 1923 in Springfield, MO.

Mrs. Stenson passed from this life to the world beyond, leaving six children, four sons and two daughters. She was 81 years old and had been bedfast for about three years, cause by paralysis. She had been a devoted Christian all her life and like many others, had various experience with but little sunshine. Her daughter, Mrs. Tom Stewart, was beside her at the end, smoothing her pillow and helping to bear her suffering.

Deceased was united with the Christian church at the age of fourteen years and was a firm believer in the faith until her death.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Ann Stinson, 90, were held Sunday afternoon in the Chaffin Funeral Home in Ozark, with interment in the Selmore cemetery under direction of T. B. Chaffin. Mrs. Stinson was born in 1851 at Linden, MO, the daughter of Sterling and Nancy King. In 1871 she was married to Tom Sumpter and to this union were born two children, one dying in infancy. The other, Mrs. Jennie Bilyeu, survives. In 1893 she was married to Alvin Stinson, who preceded her in death in 1925. She is survived by six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and two step-daughters. She was a devoted Christian and a member of the Methodist church since early childhood. For the past several years she had made her home in Ozark, where she lived with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Wheeler.

Eula Mae Greenway Martin Stocker was born May 29, 1919, and died March 25, 2009, at the age of 89, in her own home in Nixa, Missouri. Eula was one of 10 children born to Leonard and Bessie Greenway. She is survived by her son, Forrest Martin and his wife, Bonnie of Vacaville, California; her daughter, Patricia (Newberry) Calkins and her husband, Bill of Springfield, Missouri; and her son, Larry Martin and his wife, Linda of Flower Mound, Texas. During her lifetime she was employed by Lily Tulip and Inmon Interiors. Eula was an extraordinary woman who put the needs of everyone else before her own. She was loved and will be missed by a host of friends and family including her seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be on Monday, March 30, in Manlove-Stumpff Chapel in Crane, Mo. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., immediately following the visitation. Burial will take place in Crane Community Cemetery.

Emory Ruble "Butch” Stockham, 69, Billings, passed away Friday, February 13, 2009, in his home, with his family at his side. He was born August 30, 1939, in Aurora, Illinois, to Gerald William and Isabel (Ruble) Stockham. Emory was a U.S. Army veteran. He served as a medic pilot during his five tours in Vietnam, where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart medal as well as other medals. He was a member of the VFW in Billings and Republic. For several years he owned and operated Sandy's Pest Control in Billings. He was united in marriage to Sandra Jean Heiney September 17, 1977. For the past four years they have made their home north of Clever. His parents; and an infant son, James Carl preceded him in death. His survivors include his wife, Sandy of the home; sons, Steve Stockham and Dee, Sandwich, Ill., Chris Stockham, Yorkville, Ill., Orland Ryan and fiancée, Stephanie Padilla, both of Marionville, Mo., Shawn Ryan and Brian Todd Ryan, both of Clever, and Jim Stockham and fiancée, Heather Mehl, Springfield; a daughter, Billie Jean Huggins and her husband, Nathan Huggins, Springfield; two grandsons; nine granddaughters; a brother, Danny Stockham, Gladstone, Mich.; and other relatives and friends. Alvin Stockstill, 79, Hurley, Missouri, was born October 26, 1932 in Oto, Missouri to Lyle O. and Lorene Noe Stockstill and departed this life Saturday March 3, 2012 in Christian Health Care, Nixa, Missouri. Alvin had been a lifelong resident of the area and had been a dairy farmer for a number of years. He had also worked for St. John's and Cox Hospitals in Springfield, Missouri. Alvin was a Sergeant First Class in the army during the Korean War. On November 23, 1955 Alvin married Edna F. (Sue) Brown and to this union two sons were born. Survivors include his wife, Edna (Sue) of the home; two sons, David Stockstill of Hurley, Missouri and John Stockstill and wife Ann of White Hall, Maryland; a brother, Bobby Junior Stockstill and wife Bonnie; sister, Jo Ann Lee and husband Robert of Clever, Missouri; grandson, Jackson Lyle Stockstill and a host of relatives and friends. Mrs. Elma Jean Stockstill, age 94, of Springfield, Mo., passed away February 17, 2006, in Maranatha Manor. She was born February 9, 1912, in Nixa, Mo., to William and Iva Ann (McConnell) Wade. She was a charter member of the Hamlin Memorial Baptist Church and currently the oldest living member. She was a homemaker and a loving mother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arley Stockstill; one sister, and two brothers. Elma is survived by four children, Betty Richards, Bob and wife, Betty E. Stockstill, and Frankie Ann Walker, all of Springfield, Mo., and James W. Stockstill of Roxboro, N.C.; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at 3 p.m. in White Chapel Cemetery, Springfield, with Rev. Raymond Wade officiating. Mrs. I.E. Stockstill was born Aug. 9, 1850, and departed this life Nov. 7, 1934, aged 84 yeas. Her companion preceded her in death July 26, 1912. They were life time residents of Stone county. She accepted the life of her Savior at the age of 24 and joined the Methodist church which she remained a faithful member. She is survived by seven children, four girls, Mrs. Lula Curbow of Clever, Mrs. Ada Flood and Mrs. Lillie Williams of Springfield, Mo., Dollie Rhea of Ponce de Leon; three sons, Willie of Springfield, Bob and Charley of Galena, 30 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Mrs. Jessie Stockstill was born December 23, 1898 and died October 25, 1940 at the age of 41 years, ten months and two days. She was converted and joined the Baptist Church at Ponce de Leon at the age of 16 years and she still held membership there at the time of death. Those who survive her are her husband. Lester L. Stockstill and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John P. Steele, five sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Nettie Greathouse of Springfield, MO, Mrs. Florence Hunt, Mrs. Isadore Lyman, Harold and Orel Steele, all of California, Mrs. Dalcie Tennis of Ash Grove, Mrs. Juanita Maples and Arthur of Ponce de Leon, MO, other relatives and a host of friends to mourn her departure. Funeral services were held at 3 pm Sunday at the Ponce de Leon church conducted by Rev. A. S. Hanks of Selmore with burial in the Ponce de Leon cemetery under the direction of the Wilburn Maples Funeral Home of Clever.

The son of William Stockstill, of near Montague, was killed Sunday, when a gun he was carrying discharged shooting him in the side. He and his cousin were returning from the Finley river where they had been swimming, when their dogs stirred up a rabbit. In the effort to see the chase, young Stockstill stumbled over a log and his shotgun was discharged into his left side. Staggering almost half way home unassisted, he subsided into unconsciousness and was carried the rest of the way by his cousin who was with him. He was 13 years old. They rushed him to Ozark and he died in the office of Dr. Farthing about 2:30 p.m. He was buried at Ponce de Leon Monday under direction of the Ozark Undertaking Co. The Stone county coroner was summoned and he decided an inquest was unnecessary.

Loretta M. Stockstill, 71, Ozark, died Wednesday, Dec 11, 1991 in Springfield Community Hospital. She was born Aug. 4, 1920 in New York City. She was the daughter of David and Elizabeth Healy and was proud of her Native American heritage. She graduated from New York University and worked as a registered nurse in New York before moving to the Ozark area 40 years ago. She was a member of the board of directors for the Neighborhood Center at its onset in Ozark, and served on the board of OACAC in Springfield. She was a member of the Selmore Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas in 1964; and an infant son, Dorian; her parents and two brothers. Survivors include three sons, James Stockstill and his wife Jeannie, Springfield, Donald Stockstill, Ozark, and Charles Stockstill and his wife, Karen, Ozark; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Lonnie Jilck, Ozark, Maureen and Richard Giles, Ozark and Susan and Dennis Short, Sparta; 13 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Services were held Monday in Adams Funeral Home with Dr. Emory Elmore Officiating. Burial was in Springfield National Cemetery. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today in Klingner Chapel with the Rev. Fred Plank officiating. Burial will be in Highlandville Cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Stockstill joined her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. Born on August 7, 1919 at the family home in Avalon, Missouri, southeast of Chillicothe, Mary grew up in a close knit farming family with three brothers and three sisters. Growing up as a farmer's daughter, she had a wonderful childhood, attended school in a one-room building, and graduated high school in Avalon. Mary attended North Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, received her teaching degree at age 22, and began her life career of teaching children with her first teaching experience in a one room school close to her childhood home. She met her husband, Ercel (Buzz) Stockstill through a USO experience, fell in love and soon married, following Buzz around the world as part of his Air Force career. After World War II, they lived in Japan, adopted two orphans, James Eugene (who died in October 2005) and Thomas Wayne, of Indiana. The family later relocated to Texas County, Missouri after Buzz retired in 1959. Mary began teaching kindergarten shortly after the family arrived west of Houston on the Little Piney River. She retired in the mid-1980s after her long teaching career that included receiving her master's degree from then Southwest Missouri State University. Mary and Buzz then retired to St. Roberts. After Buzz died in 1986, she moved to be closer to her younger brother, Charles, and family at Ozark. She continued to live in Christian County, where she was able to spend the remaining years of her life around those family members whom she held so dear. Mary was preceded in death by her life long love and faithful husband Ercel (Buzz), her son James Eugene (Marge), her parents Ananias Waters (Nide) and Fannie Belle Powell, brothers Clarence (Louise) Powell, Charles (Mary) Powell. Also preceding her in death were sisters Lois (Howard) Reese, and Margaret (Clifford) Gates. Surviving are her youngest son Thomas (Carol) Stockstill, two grandchildren, Thomas James (TJ) Stockstill (great-grandson AJ), Tasia Marie Stockstill, and James’ wife Marge Stockstill, Mary’s brother Wayne (De) Powell of Littleton Colo. and sister Frances (Normal) Calvert of Rockford, Il. Mary is also survived by her loving and caring nephew Charles (Bud) and Connie Powell, who dedicated many years of care and companionship in the latter years of her life. There will be no service and Mary will be laid to rest with the love of her life, Buzz in the National (Veterans) Cemetery in Springfield. Randall Joe Stockstill, 48, Ash Grove, died 5:10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003 in Stone County. Randall was an inspector and salesman for Litton and later worked in the experimental department at Micron Industries in Boise, Idaho. He attended Central High School. After being stationed with the Army in Germany for one year, he returned to the area and graduated from Spokane High School. He attended College of the Ozarks and SMS. He loved the outdoors and was a member of College Street Baptist Church. Randall is survived by his parents, B.J. and Margaret (Duff); a brother, Brent; an uncle and aunt, Charles and Jane Duff; and numerous other family members and a host of friends. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Monday in Highlandville Cemetery, under direction of the funeral home. Sanford Stockstill, 89, Springfield, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2006, in the Missouri Veterans Home, Mt. Vernon, Missouri. He was born May 2, 1917, in Christian County, Missouri. Sanford was an Air Force Veteran having served in the Aleutian Islands off Alaska. Sanford worked 33 years at Crown Zellerbock Paper Company in California. He was a Christian and a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Maggie Stockstill; a brother, Richard; a sister, Shirley Atkins; and his first wife Jerry Boyts. In 1988 he married Velma Cain Mansbridge, who survives him. He is also survived by three sisters, Helen Baker, Betty Stiver and husband, Harry, and Pat Waite and husband, Bill; a brother-in-law, Bill Atkins; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends. His wife and family wish to thank all who cared for him with kindness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Sarah Kathryn Stockstill, 92, Springfield, Mo., departed this life at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1996, in her daughter’s home, Springfield. Sarah was born May 1, 1904, in Springfield, the daughter of Daniel and Mary Elizabeth Gates. She was united in marriage to Ralph Stockstill in 1922 and to this union 10 children were born. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at 27 years of age. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Richard and Bobby. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Larry Neil and Irma Ruth, and Allen and Mollie, all of Springfield; six daughters and their husbands, Betty Jane Atkinson, Fair Grove, Erma and Otto Stephens, Andover, Kan., Wilma Jones and David Cederstrand, Lake Lotawana, Mo., Peggy and John Johnston, Andover, Kan., Margie and John Hull, Bruner, Mo., and Mary and J.R. T. J. “Tom” Stockstill, 44, of Ozark, died at 9 p.m. Monday in Veteran’s Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark., following an illness of three months. A veteran of World War II and a native of Branson, Mr. Stockstill came to Ozark in 1951. An employee of REA in Ozark, he was a member of Ozark First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Loretta; three sons, James Edward, Donald Richard and Charles Lee; and three daughters, Barbara Ann, Maureen and Susan Marie, all of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stockstill, Branson; five brothers, Edwin, Columbia, Ill., Robert L., Branson, Harry, Uniontown, Kan., M. L. , Houston, Tex. and Capt. Floyd L. William Joe "B.J." Stockstill, age 80, of Halltown passed away Saturday, August 5, 2006, at Springfield Skilled Care Center. He graduated from Senior High, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Missouri State College, and earned a Masters in Education from Drury University. He began a career as an art teacher at Mt. Vernon, then continued to teach at Study Junior High in Springfield. In 1957, when Parkview High School opened, Bill was hired as an art teacher. He served as the Art Department Chairman for the Springfield Secondary Schools. After touching many students' lives, he decided to retire after 55 years in education. He was united in marriage with Margaret Lee (Duff) on October 13, 1948, at College Street Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo. He loved country dancing with his wife Margaret where they made many lifelong friends. Bill also loved to coon and bird hunt and he even trained the dogs. He was fascinated by Indian Heritage and once owned the Railroad Diner/ Antique Shop in Ash Grove, which both he and Margaret enjoyed immensely. Bill also designed many things from sculptures to a house with his knowledge in art. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Grace (Glossip); brother, Ralph; and son, Randall. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, William Brent; sister-in-law, Mary Francis Stockstill; brother-in-law, Charles Duff and wife, Jane; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of many friends. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at Highlandville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at Greenlawn South Chapel, Springfield. Memorial donations may be made to the Springfield Humane Society. Bill will be missed dearly by all who he touched with his teachings or his many stories.

Willie L. Stockstill, 59, died at his home near Highlandville, MO, Nov. 3, following a lingering illness. He was born Oct. 12, 1882, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Stockstill. He was united in marriage at the age of 27 to Effie Fisher. To this union were born six children, Mrs. Duff Marley of Ozark, Mrs. Neal Bilyeu of Ione, CA, Farrin, Mary and Robert of the home, Emmel, who preceded him in death. Two brothers, Troy of Springfield, and Jim of Chadwick, four sisters, Mrs. Ike Hilton of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Homer Collins of Carthage, Effie Stockstill of Springfield and Mrs. Glenn Payne of Highlandville, also survive. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 6 in the Highlandville Baptist Church at 2 pm, by Rev. Ross Carter of Mt. Robert "Bob" Stoddard, 75, of Springfield, passed away Friday, March 9, 2007. He was born July 7, 1931, in Brookfield, Missouri. He joined the Air Force in January 1951 and was assigned to the Special Weapons Group 1094th Special Reporting Squadron stationed in Kaline, Texas, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. His years of service included guarding missiles on secret bases during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged in January 1955. He moved from Kansas City, Missouri, to Springfield in 1964 to go to work for his uncle at Stoddard Equipment Company. He was a successful Businessman and Oil Jobber. He was the Bob in Bob's EEE-ZZZ Stop in Nixa, Forsyth and Ozark. He was a 3rd degree Mason, a member of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Club, the White Mustang Motor Patrol and a member of the Elks Lodge 409. He was an avid car enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling, hunting and spending time with his family and friends at his cabin on Table Rock Lake. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Martha, of the home; four daughters and their husbands, Bobbie and Kerry Woodson of St. Charles, Missouri, Jeri and Russ Fleschert of Lonedell, Missouri, Carol and John Gallaher of Mexico, Missouri, and Debbie and Gerald Quigley of Nixa, Missouri; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, aunt, uncle and cousins. He was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held March 13, 2007, at 1 p.m. in the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time. A Masonic service and an Elk service will be held immediately following the visitation. A private graveside service will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery following the services. Military in Vietnam, Dee of the home; three sisters, June, Susie and Frances, all of the home; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna Gunn, Ozark. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Bruner Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Bandy and the Rev. Wilbur Blansit officiating. Burial was under direction of Adams of Ozark.

Frank Harlon Stogsdill, age 46, of Ozark, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2003 in St. John’s Regional Health Center. He was born May 6, 1956 in Springfield. A computer analyst, Frank had been employed by MCI since 1993. He loved spending time with his family, and was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his wife, Betty (Bilyeu) Stogsdill; two children, Nicholas Harlon Stogsdill and Jessica Jean Stogsdill; his mother, Barbara J. Tunnell, Springfield; a sister, Tammy Lynn Cox and husband Doug, Mount Vernon; his mother-in-law, Mary Bilyeu; brothers-in-law, Donnie Bilyeu and his wife, Laurie, and Jim Bilyeu, all of Ozark; sisters-in-law, Sherry Powers and her husband Eddie, Galena, and Rhonda Henson, Warsaw; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Jeanette Kohlhauff. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Cremation will follow. Funeral services for Silbey P. Stoker, 51 of Springfield, will be at 2 p.m. today in Lutie Chapel Church in Ozark County, with the Rev. Allen Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Clinkingbeard of Ava. Mr. Stoker died at 3:15 a.m. Monday in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, following a long illness. He was a veteran of World War II, and a barber in the McDaniel Building, Springfield. Surviving are his wife, Lorraine; a daughter, Sarah Marie, of the home, his mother, Mrs. Versie Hollingsworth, Springfield; a sister, Mrs. Freda Green, Ozark, and two brothers, Arnold Stoker and J. H. Stoker, both of Springfield.

Viola Stogsdill, 79, died Saturday, March 31, 1990 in Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson, Kan., following a long illness. Living most of her life in the Chadwick area, she had lived in Hutchinson since 1972. Survivors include. two sons, Charles Sallee, Hutchinson, Kan., and Norman Sallee, Prague, Okla.; a daughter, Maxine Armburst, McPherson, Kan.; three sisters, Lillie Hursh, Ozark; Hattie Lee, Sparta, and Stella Burkart, Chadwick; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 4, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with the Rev. Carl Thompson officiating. Burial was in Hall Cemetery in Douglas County. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

B. F. Stokes, 92, a longtime resident of this community, died at his home here at 3 a.m. Thursday after a brief illness. A native of Springfield, Ill., Mr. Stokes was a retired farmer and a member of the Dunnegan Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Nancy; four sons, Uriel, Westminster, Colo., E. A., St. Louis, J. W., Little Rock, and Bernie, Wheatridge, Colo.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Butler Chapel with the Revs. J. E. Jackson and Howard Farris officiating. Graveside services will be in Frazier Cemetery west of Nixa, at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Emma Susan Stokes, 91, Ozark, died Sept. 20 in Springfield MediCenter after a long illness. Formerly of Kansas City, she had lived in this area since 1979 and was a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Ruth Johnson of Springfield. The body was cremated at Greenlawn Crematory under direction of Greenlawn Battlefield South. No services were planned.

Fern Lucille Stokes departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on January 31, 2009, at the age of 89. Lucille was born on January 14, 1920, southwest of Highlandville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Delphy and Claude Sims; four brothers, Huey, James, Arlie and Bill; and two sisters, Clarice McWilliams and Bernita Deeds. She is survived by her loving husband, George Stokes; two sons, Wayne of Halfway, Mo., and Ron of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Della Ann Smith and husband, Sanford of Bentonville, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Sims and Inez Sims; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five nephews; two nieces; and a host of loving friends. George and Lucille were married in Harrison, Ark., on March 26, 1949. Lucille worked for 20 years at King Furniture and later went to work for Dayco Industries, where she retired after 20 years of service in 1982. After retirement, she spent her time working around her home and in her beautiful flower gardens. She and George traveled with some of their close friends and were avid mall walkers. Lucille was a member of High Street Baptist Church for 50 years, before moving to Berean Baptist Church, where she has been a member for the past eight years. She will truly be missed by all who loved her and all who's life she has touched. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, on Wednesday, February 4, with services in the funeral home on February 5, at 10 a.m., with Fred Reamsnider officiating.

George W. Stokes, 50, of Springfield, died at 8:25 a.m. Feb. 3 at Cox North after a long illness. Services for Mr. Stokes were held Feb. 5 at the Ragan-Thieme Chapel, Springfield. Burial was in the Robberson Prairie Cemetery. Mr. Stokes was a retired baker from the Butternut Bread Company, and was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church. He was a lifelong resident of Springfield. His survivors include his wife, Ardenia; one son, Charles Stokes, of Buffalo; four daughters, Beverly Stokes, of Buffalo, Carol Printy, of Nixa, Brenda Adams, of Springfield, and Georgia Stokes, of the home; his parents, William (Red) and Helen Stokes, Springfield; four brothers, Delbert L., Joe D., Samuel F. and Daniel F. Stokes; 10 sisters, Carol Cariscy, Pat Freeman, Elizabeth Freeman, Martha Asher, Diana Webster, Rebekah Roberds, Deborah Stokes, Pamela Sherran, Tenna Hire and Nanetta Stokes; his maternal grandmother, Maude Swearengin; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Stokes died Dec. 2 at her home of natural causes. survivors include her husband, Jeff; three sons. James Winfred Stokes, age 91, of Ozark, died Friday, April 17, 1998, in Ozark Riverview Manor. He was born Nov. 19, 1906, in Boaz and was the son of Benjamin Franklin and Nancy Louise Stokes. Mr. Stokes was a carpenter before retirement and continued his craft with woodworking projects. Converted at an early age, he joined Mt. Sinai Church at Boaz,. He was most recently a member of First Baptist Church of Ozark. In 1982 he and Zelma Gann were married. His first wife, Zeda, preceded him in death as well as two brothers, Urel and E.A. Stokes. Survivors include: his wife, Zelma, presently of Riverview Residential Place; a son, James Stokes, St. Charles, a brother Bernie Stokes, Denver, Colo.; five step-children and their spouses, Emil and Barbara Gann, Dale and Nelda Gann, and Don and Marilyn Gann, all of Ozark. Leola and Charles Christman, Strafford, and Danny Gann, Colorado; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. Troy Rhoden officiating. Burial was in Frazier Cemetery, Boaz.
