R. Jay Tennison, age 47, of Ozark, died suddenly while playing golf with friends on Saturday, April 20, 2002. He was born July 22, 1954 in Lebanon, Mo., and graduated from Lebanon High School. He received a banking degree from L.S.U. Tennison was employed as Executive Vice President, Senior Lending Officer for Liberty Bank. He had previously worked for Ozark Bank. He had been past president of the Ozark Athletic Booster Club, had served on the Ozark Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, was a member of the Ozark Rotary Club, Missouri Southern Football Boosters, had been a member of the Monett Masons, and was involved in other community activities. Tennison was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include: His wife, Kim; two sons, Jeremy Lee Tennison, Joplin, and his fiancee, Renee Dawn DeBella, and Scott Alan Tennison, of the home; two stepdaughters, Chanda Cook and Christa Cook, both of the home; his parents, Ralph and Betty (Pulley) Tennison, Lebanon; a sister, Sherry K. Allen and her husband, Gary Cabool; a nephew, Jeffrey Allen and his wife, Julie; a niece, Karen Moore and her husband, Billy and their children, Kyle and Bailey; his parents-in-law, Granville and Wanda Warren, Ozark; a brother-in-law, Terry Warren and his family, Jonesboro, Ark.; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with the Rev. Roger Marshall officiating. A graveside service followed at 2 p.m. in Mt. Rose Cemetery Lebanon. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Funeral services for William Preston “Willie” Tennison 83, of Reeds Spring, will be in 2 p.m. today in the Sixty-Five Church near Reeds Spring, with the Rev. Walter McKnight officiating. Burial will be in Eisenhour Cemetery under direction of Stumpff. Mr. Tennison died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday in the Skaggs, Hospital at Branson, where he had been a patient for the past week. He was a farmer and veterinarian in Stone County and a member of the Pentecostal Church. Janis Ann Terrebrood, 48, Ozark, died Nov. 13, 2010. She was born Aug. 14, 1962, in Saint Johns, Mich., the daughter of Larry and Joyce Karber. On Dec. 24, 2008, she was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Terrebrood. Jan was a licensed REALTOR with Carol Jones Realtors in Springfield. Jan enjoyed attending Ozark General Baptist Church and was a faithful member. She played golf, enjoyed cooking and had compassion for animals, especially her dogs. Jan was preceded in death by her father and two sisters Karen and Sharon. She is survived by her husband Jerry; her mother Joyce Karber; two brothers Dean and John Karber; sister Julie Karber; niece Janet Terrebrood; two step-daughters Denise and Robin; other caring relatives and many friends. Funeral services were at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Allen Maples officiating. Burial followed in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation was from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the funeral home. Gregory R. Thompson, 49, Bruner, Mo., passed away suddenly Tuesday, November 23, in Cox South Hospital. Rogersville - Kay Clement Terrell 71, of Rogersville, died at 4:30 p.m. last Tuesday in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield after an illness of several years. A native of Osage County, Okla. Mr. Terrel was a retired farmer and a member of the Chestnutridge Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Libby; four sons, Cecil of Eugala, Calif, Okla., Leon of Pixley, Calif., Billy of Kanab, Utah and Jesse of St. Louis; three daughters, Mrs. Imogene Miller of Rogersville, Mrs. Mona Mae Rowell of Jacksonville, Fla., Shirlene Terrel of Rogersville; one brother, Isadora of Magadalena, N. Rodney L Terrell, 65, Ozark died Aug. 20, 2003 at his home in Ozark, after battling a long term illness. Living life to its fullest was a priority along with being a true friend to many. Terrell never wavered from his firm belief in family values and had a genuine love for all. He was preceded in death by his mother Opal Terrell (Lewis), who died when he was 4-years-old. He was raised by his grandparents V.D. and Mollie Lewis after his mother passed away. They also preceded him in death. He was loved and is survived by his precious wife of 44 years, Jacqueline "Jackie," of Ozark; two sons, Wade Terrell, Poplar Bluff, and Kyle Terrell and wife Sandra, Springfield; grandchildren, Kristen Gerard and husband Rick, Ozark, Keli Jo Terrell, Ozark, and Collin and Miranda Terrell of Springfield; and many friends, all of whom he loved as family. Visitation was at Adams Funeral Home in Ozark from 1-3 p.m. on August 23, 2003. Cremation followed. Clifford Emerson Terrill 80 of Fordland, Mo. passed away Thursday April 10, 2008 at Manor Care in Springfield. Clifford was born on April 8, 1928 in Webster County Mo. to Louie Daniel Terrill and Mary “Cornelison” Terrill. He was married to Ruth Ann “Williams” on November 21, 1975. Clifford drove a truck for over 30 years retiring in 1993. He had drove for Wood Brothers in Oregon, Ill. and Erikson Transport in Springfield. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #245 in Springfield. Surviving is his wife Ruth of the home. three sons Ken Terrill and wife Margene of Rogersville, Roger “Pete” Terrill of Battlefield, and Robert Terrill of Sacramento, Calif. Four daughters Connie Ottersteder and husband Walter of Richmond, VA. Sandra Muir and husband Ron of Richmond, VA. Linda Meinhardt and husband Lee of Owensboro, KY. and Cathy Temple and husband Patrick of Rockfalls, Ill. David Leon Terry, 57, and his wife, Patricia Ann Terry, 56, died June 26, 2005, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident just outside of their Fair Grove home. They were united in marriage on May 22, 1975, and to this marriage, one daughter, Marianne Terry, was born on June 30, 1980. David was born February 28, 1948, to Duward "D.L." Terry and Joanna Dobbs who preceded him in death. Patricia was born on March 16, 1949, to Luther L. Essary, who preceded her in death, and Mary Louise Chism. David Terry was a lifelong member and business owner in the Fair Grove community. He graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1966. David served active duty in the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant in Thailand and Germany, and later served in the National Guard. He enjoyed learning and passing on information to others. David owned Terry Refrigeration in Fair Grove for many years and most recently worked for FEDEx Freight as a driver. He is survived by his daughter, as well as three brothers, Dennis Terry of Fair Grove, Mo., Douglas Terry of Fair Grove, and Donald Terry of Springfield, Mo. David is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Pat, lifelong scholar and educator, was a graduate of Central High School in Springfield, Mo., and received her Bachelor's degree in Education from SMSU, where she later earned her Masters and Specialist Degree in Educational Administration. Pat began her teaching career in the Ozark School District and later served as a teacher and middle school principal for Fair Grove R-X schools for the past 25 years. Pat would have retired from the school district on June 30, 2005. She was greatly appreciated and will be deeply missed by her many students, co-workers, and friends. Pat is survived by her daughter; her mother; as well as her siblings, Dan L. Essary of Marshfield, Mo., Marilyn Kemp of Plano, Texas, Ron Essary of Marshfield, Mo., Cindy Ingenthron of Nixa, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. David and Pat were both proud, devoted parents to their daughter and family members to their parents, siblings, and to each other. Both were looking forward to Marianne's forthcoming wedding and an extension of the family. David and Pat both enjoyed their life together and will be greatly missed by all who knew them. Combined visitation for Pat and David will be held at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. Combined funeral services will be held at the Fair Grove High School gym on Friday, July 1, at 10 a.m. and proceed to Rose Hill Cemetery in Willard, Mo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the David and Patricia Terry Scholarship Fund. Donations to the fund can be accepted at Fair Grove High School.

Joe Terry, aged 69 years, 1 month and 28 days, died at his home two miles south of Highlandville at 7:00 o’clock p.m. Saturday, October 13th, 1923. The remains were brought to Ozark by T. B. Chaffin and prepared for burial and taken back to the home Sunday evening. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Highlandville Baptist church, conducted by Rev. James White. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, the Highlandville Lodge having charge of the ceremonies at the cemetery.

Martha Alice Plumlee was born near Berryville, Ark., on Feb. 14, 1855, and departed this life Jan. 11, 1935. She was united in marriage to Joel Terry on March 28, 1874. To this union five children were born, four daughters and one son, with only two surviving, Mrs. Alice West and Mrs. Golda Lee, both of Highlandville. She was converted at an early age and united with the Pleasant Hill Baptist church, but in later years moved her membership to the Eaudevie Baptist church. She was a true and faithful member and a kind and loving mother. Besides the two daughters, she leaves to mourn her departure two brothers, C.D. and A.L. Plumlee, 12 grandchildren and a host of relatives, friends and neighbors. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 13, at 1:39 p.m. in the Highlandville church with Rev. R.R. Cook officiating. Burial was made in the Highlandville cemetery under the direction of T.B. Chaffin of Ozark.

Mary Ann Baker was born in Harrison, Ark., Nov. 23, 1857, and departed this life Jan. 3, 1936, age78 years, 1 month and 11 days. She was married to John Terry Feb. 14, 1873. To this union were born eight children. Her husband and five children preceded her in death. She is survived by three children, Mrs. Maggie Thompson of Marysville, Wash., Mrs. Floyd Blevins and Mrs. Fred Robertson of Ozark. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. When she was 16 years of age, she was converted and became a member of the Baptist church. All of her life she has been a devoted Christian. Mrs. Terry leaves behind her many friends and she will be sadly missed by all of them. She was beloved by all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Jan. 4, at 2 o’clock in the Riverdale church by Rev. Roscoe Harding with burial in the McConnell cemetery under the direction of T.B. Chaffin of Ozark.

She had lived in Ozark since 1978, moving form California. A native of Campbell, she had lived in California for several years, in Bolivar for more than 15 years and moved to Ozark in 1976., She was a member of Ozark Assembly of God. Survivors include her husband, Fred; two sons, Don Rook, Del Mar, Calif.. and Robert Rook, Ozark; two stepsons, Gerald, Memphis, Tenn., and Carl. Campbell; three sisters, Inez McConnell, Bloomfield, Cynthia Vore, Avant, Okla., and Mae Krebs, Campbell; five grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Geneva Marie Tettenhorst, 77, of Nixa, formerly of Aurora, died at 5:35 p.m. Sunday at Springfield Community Hospital. The body has been donated to the School of Medicine; University of Missouri-Columbia, and was taken to Columbia by Harris Funeral Home of Ozark. No services are planned. Mrs. Tettenhorst was a native of Stone County and a resident of Nixa. She had been employed for several years by the Juvenile Shoe Company in Aurora. She was a member of the. Madry Christian Union Church. She is survived by a son, Bill W. Tettenhorst, who is with the U.S. Navy stationed in Miami, Florida.

Dr. and Mrs. J.H. Wade attended the funeral services Monday afternoon of Mrs. Melvina Tewmey in Springfield. Mrs. Tewmey passed away Saturday at the home of her son, A.T. Tewmey. The services were held at the Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Mr. Tewmey left that evening for Ft. Worth, Texas with the body, where burial was made Wednesday.

Franklin Texeira III, 48, of Ozark, died at 11 p.m. Thursday in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, after a short illness. Services for Mr. Texeira were held Monday in the Adams Funeral Chapel, Ozark, with the Rev. Dustin Cooper officiating. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield. Mr. Texeira had been a resident of Ozark since 1970. He previously was from California and Honokaa, Hawaii. He was formerly the Body Shop Manager at Friendly Ford in Springfield. A member of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and all masonic bodies, he also served as sponsor for, and was active in, Ozark Girl Scout projects. His survivors include his wife, Geri, of the home; sons, Frank and Ethan of Springfield, and Brady, of the home; daughters, Brandi and Addie of the home; also Stacy May of Nixa, and John Eishen of Springfield. Other survivors include his mother, Emma Moody, of Van Nuys, California; one brother, Manuel, of Van Nuys; and one sister, Judy Wallace, Honolulu Hawaii. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hammons Heart Institute.

Funeral services for Rev. Amos C. Tharp, who died in a Springfield hospital Monday night after a collision with a car driven by Attorney Sam Wear, was held in Springfield at the Grace M. E. Church Thursday morning. Mr. Tharp was a brother of Mrs. J. W. Alexander formerly of Ozark and met his death near Galloway when for some unknown cause, he turned his bicycle on which he was riding in the wrong direction and ran into the car driven by the Wears. A coroner’s jury exonerated the Wears from blame from evidence of eye witnesses of the accident.

Jack L. Tharp, age 73 was born near Strafford, MO. He passed away January 14, 2012. He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Timothy, his parents and brother, Frank. He is survived by his wife, Elaine and two children: Steve, his wife Jeannine; children Courtney, Annie, Stefan, and Adam; daughter Medea, her husband Steve; children Justin, Dylan, and Erika. Five brothers: Bennie (Viola), Larry (Janice), Kenneth (Mary Ann), Mark and Terry (Sherryl) and sisters Betty, Connie (Bill), and Cynthia (Jerry) with many nephews and nieces. He was in the mobile home service business for 30 years. He loved camping, traveling, riding his ATV and visiting his grandchildren. Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. James Orville Tharp was born near Wichita, Kansas, Jan. 11, 1878, the son of Jonathin Tharp, and departed this life March 15, 1946, at the age of 68. In 1900 he was united in marriage to Miss Dora Mattox, who preceded him in death. To this union four children were born. He was converted while quite young and has lived a Christian life. Those surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Nellie Lawrence, Mrs. Gladys Logan and Mrs. Jessie Lee Medlin, all of Billings, route 1; two brothers, William and Ellis Tharp, both of Omaha, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs. Emaline Beck of Springfield, Mrs. Lizzie Youngblood and Mrs. Nora Youngblood, both of Eucha, Okla.; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon in the Wrights chapel conducted by Rev. Harl Merritt with burial in the Hampton cemetery under direction of Wilburn Maples of Clever.

E.C. “Mike” Theander, 85, Billings, died at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002 in Christian Health Care, Republic. He was born July 1, 1916 in Clark County, Kan. to Carl P. and Emma (Gutsch) Theander. He spent his early childhood growing up in a farming area in Ashland, Kan., and Marion, Kan. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific from 1940 to 1945. Following his military service, he returned home to Kansas for a year. He then moved to the Springfield, Mo. area, where he met and married Mary Larson in 1947. They lived in Springfield several years before Mary passed away in 1970. He married Jeanne (Stehling) McMillan in January of 1976, and they enjoyed 25 years together before her death in March of 2001. Mike retired from the Ozark Beverage Company in Springfield where he was employed as a truck driver. He enjoyed bowling and gardening. Others preceding him in death are his parents and a brother, William. He is survived by his sister, Myrtle Vinso, Newton, Kan.; three stepsons and their spouses, Charles McMillan, Duluth, Ga., Jim and Janice McMillan, Jefferson City, Mo., and Bill and Carol McMillan, Republic; eight step-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; and special friends Jim and Betty Spencer. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2002 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Billings, with Father Patrick Teter officiating under direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Billings. Ivan Charles Thelander, age 90, of Ozark, died Thursday, May 21, 1998, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield. He was born March 22, 1908, in Callender, Iowa and was the son of William and Ethel (Langsdon) Thelander. He lived in Tempe, Ariz.; for many years before retiring to Ozark 20 years ago. Mr. Thelander was a farmer and a carpenter. He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Pauline; his second wife, Ruby, three brothers, Kenneth, Wallace, and Leonard Thelander; and two nephews. Survivors include: a sister, Ketta Pearce and her husband Phil, Ozark; and six nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 1998, in Ozark Church of the Nazarene, with Kenneth Chamberlain officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Survivors include: his parents, Ruth and Paul Thiemann, Springfield; a brother, Donald Thiemann; a sister, Deborah Pamperien, Springfield; and a daughter, Stacy Thiemann. A memorial service was Monday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. Wally Becker officiating. Soloist was Julie Lawson. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Funeral services for Alvin Thogmartin, 66 of Highlandville were held at 2 p.m. Friday in Harris Chapel in Ozark with the Rev. Bill W. Lancaster officiating. Burial was in Highlandville Cemetery.

Avery Thogmartin, 67, passed away at his home near Reed Springs junction at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, in the Montague Baptist church, with a short service at the home preceding. Rev. Floyd J. Hanks of Ozark officiated. Burial was in the cemetery at Montague. Mr. Thogmartin retired from active business some time ago. He first entered business at Montague, later moving to Ozark where he operated a mercantile store. Moving to Springfield, he traveled for a Springfield coffee company. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ruth Thogmartin; four sons and four daughters by a previous marriage, Miles of Reed Springs, Melvin of Washington state, Randolph of Neosho, and Alvin of Springfield, Mrs. Alpha Mallonee of Montague, Mrs. Alcie Noe of Pe Ell, Washington, Mrs. Mydas Claybough of Reed Springs and Mrs. Ward King of the state of California; and two daughters by his present marriage, Martha Ellen and Barbara June, both of the home; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

M/Sgt. Gayle Thogmartin, retired after 30 years of active duty in the Air Force, passed away February 12 in the Veterans Hospital in Shreveport, La. after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Flora and son Marty of the home; another son, Kenneth who is in the services, stationed in Germany; a sister, Hazel Workman of Oxnard, Calif.; his step-mother, Mrs. Blanche Thogmartin of Highlandville. Military services were in Shreveport, La.

Mrs. Ida Thogmartin, of Springfield, wife of Miles Thogmartin and Miss Rice of Galloway were almost instantly killed and Mrs. H. C. Miller, of Springfield, a sister of Miss Rice, seriously injured when their auto driven by Mrs. Thogmartin was struck by a Frisco passenger train near Strafford last Monday afternoon. The party was returning from a motor trip to Marshfield and it is thought they attempted to make the crossing ahead of the train when struck by the train. It is now thought that Mrs. Miller will recover. Mrs. Thogmartin was formerly Miss Ida Phipps, daughter of Mrs. O. H. Phipps, a long time resident of the Highlandville community and well known in Ozark. She was a sister of Mrs. Diami Campbell of Ozark and the well-known Phipps boys of Highlandville and vicinity and Mrs. Jim Adams of Selmore. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at Highlandville Wednesday afternoon with burial in the Highlandville cemetery. The Republican extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

Ida Mae Phipps was born at Highlandville, Mo. September 17, 1895. She departed this life February 8, 1926 at the age of 30 years, 4 months and 26 days. She professed faith in Christ at the age of 13 years and united with the Highlandville Baptist church where she remained a member until God called her away. She was married to Miles Thogmartin December 25, 1913. To this union was born two children, Hazel 11 years and Gale age 7 years. She leaves besides the husband and two children, an aged mother, Mrs. O. H. Phipps; five sisters, Della and Lissa Fox of Springfield, Rosa Adams of Selmore, Lou Landers of Highlandville and Diamia Campbell of Ozark; four brothers, Myrt, Robert and Dave Phipps of Highlandville and Will Phipps of Ponce de Leon; besides a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her departure. But our loss is Heaven’s gain. Dearest mother, thou hast left us And the loss we deeply feel, But ‘twas God who hath bereft us All our sorrow, He can heal. A precious one from us is gone, A voice we loved is stilled, A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled.
